chocklo wrote:Have to say, not one of them is cracked. I understand with Dreamcast and PS1 cases but nope, it's not something I experience at all with PSP cases.

My biggest beef is against tatty/water damaged inserts. Instructions tend to be fine as well. I suspect that most people tend to leave their instruction manuals alone for PSP games.

Not saying that my PSP games are all in great shape, like I said to Hot Fuzz, when they're turd, I'll get replacements. While a lot of my stuff comes through the post, a lot also comes from the wild. I've said it numerous times before, that's what I love most about wii,DS,PSP collecting. The retro side of things seemed to dry up and collecting for wii, ds and psp have given me a new lease of bargain hunting life.

Again, repeating myself here, I'm not really a PSP connoiseur, in fact, I keep repeating that I'm far from it. I'm an all round collector and PSP is just something I'm concentrating on currently.

Don't get me wrong, it takes hard work. Today, I discovered a nice shop in Sheffield (I think it was called Games and Videos), last Thursday, I visited Solihull CEX, I visited Leeds CEX and Grainger over the weekend, last Friday I visited Wakefield Grainger/Game/CEX. Then I went to Chesterfield CEX/Gamestation the same day. The week before I did Bradford, Huddersfield and Halifax Cexs/Games.I'm also frequently down south as well so I'll always do a circuit round london/Basingstoke/Woking etc. I really enjoy collecting and go games hunting pretty much every day. Picking up stuff in the wild ensures that I get to poke around, ensure they come with insstructions, ensure that the inserts aren't knackered.

So, to summarise, I'm not a minty collector - I'd find it hard to classify my brand of collecting. Sometimes I like to complete collections, sometimes I like to pick the most important titles only.

Every now an then I'll go that extra mile to find a game that I really want in decent nick. For example, I wanted a decent PicPic for the DS. I saw that there was one in CEX Scunthorpe for about £17. Instead of asking them to post it to me for £2.50, I think I spent about £20 on fuel to pick it up (and see it) in person.

Regarding the manuals thing, as spelt out in my golden rules, all of my games regardless of platform MUST have manuals.

On the subject of buying games at the right price, totally agree. That's why I'm filling my boots now. I think that we're in a perfect period now where PSP games are super cheap and relatively easily obtainable.

anyways....if anyone's still awake after reading this....more PSP for today and the weekend....

I think it's great that you are able to visit all these game stores/thrift stores for your games bargains! Wish I could get to more shops in the wild. I tend to buy local within 20 miles as I work pretty local, I do sometimes visit Manchester where I've had some nice bargains and I shop online too mostly on ebay. However I've been stung a few times lately with people listing items as "New" or very good when infact they're pants. It hasn't happened very often though and I've just purchased a 10 game/movie bundle for £30 all as new. Got a few Japanese games I wanted also Initial D "D File" UMD which is a rare promo item as it was only given as a pre-order bonus with the Initial D game in Japan. I'm currently collecting Japanese exclusives for psp and hope to have a good selection of launch titles and obscure picks.

Seriously, it's nowt cutting edge. I do project management/business analysis for a comms company/provider with offices literally all over the UK. It does mean that I pretty much live in my car.... :( but it also means that I get to visit loads of game shops! :D

Also, I think I'm quite priviledged to live in and around the Yorkshire region which has always been fantastic for games hunting.

Shame about the living in your car, I'm sure you love your job/work though! I like traveling myself and actually one of the few that enjoys driving.....LOL I'm based at a hospital so I don't move about much. I work as a nurse on a busy unit. I find my hobby helps me unwind though, despite being an older gamer! My son also loves gaming and sometimes we'll spent a few hours together on our favourite games.

recently bought a copy of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition and its an amazing remake plus with the introducing of Skulls and Terminals plus new achievements for the 360 makes it even more of a challenge other than just completing the levels. I am also considering pre-ordering Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 :)

The database is good to go, me and tyron have worked our asses off to compile it and we believe it to be complete. Just waiting on the last few releases to pass and it will be submitted to the admins :)

Yep just a few more to get! One of these I've actually had a dream of holding in my hand........

Did you get Blazing Souls Accelate in the end Gary? I've got a spare one if you need it :)

I got blazing souls this week from CEX, £6 and it was practically brand new!

Hi Tyron,

How much would you want for the copy of Blazing Souls? I 'd take it off your hands for a reasonable price. I can send the money via Paypal too. I have excellent feedback if you need to see any!

On the subject of new purchases I just picked up Bleach Heat the Soul 1&2 to go with the Bleach HTS 4 game I got in the ebay bundle! These are great Japanese fighting games. There are 7 games in the set and also a spinoff set of 2 games called Bleach Heat Soul Carnival 1&2 which are side scrolling brawler games. Anybody else here collect from other regions, I know gary has a collection of NTSC games, any other Japanese game collector's?

A few more PSP pickups today. Couldn't resist picking up that Klonoa for the wii as well for £7.99 (and part of a buy 2 get 1 free deal).

I didn't really want to start on the sports titles yet but I got them as part of a bundle of 8 psp games on ebay which I won on a £4.87 bid! The Sims 2 also came in the bundle but it was the platinum version so I knocked it in at CEX for £2.50 bringing the total bid to £2.37 for 7 games (P&P was a very reasonable £3). I also got the Simpsons in the same bundle, which made it more special.

Quite a few sealed games this week as well which were pretty cheap.

That takes the grand total to over 400 titles....

Hi Chocklo,

Would you be interested in a trade for your other copy of Harvest Moon Leaf Valley? I thought I saw a sealed copy so assumed your other copy would get sold or traded?

Didn't know there was a Rocky game on PSP...does anybody know if it's any good? Love all the films but the PS2 Rocky game is apparently glitched to hell.

Yesterday, I ordered a PSP SRPG called Gungnir. I know this is never gonna get an EU release so I bought a new US copy off ebay. Wouldn't have known this existed had it not been for a review in gamesTM.

Nice Altus RPG you have there, I collect NTSC RPG's too! We have some great games in the PAL catalogue but so many awesome games get overlooked because they are USA/Canada only. I'm working my way through getting the ones I want. I have about 10 NTSC RPG's at present, the rest are PAL. I just got my games bundle in today, they all were "New" as listed and I'm really pleased with what I got for £30. I'm also waiting for 2 more games to arrive Bleach Heat The Soul 1&2, I got BHTS 4 in the 10 game bundle. I only need 4 games now to complete the set. The games are quite expensive though unless you buy used. All are Japanese but I think it makes it more authentic when you play a true Japanese video game! Most of the manuals are a mixture of English and Japanese and if you get stuck there are guides everywhere on the net.

Cheers mate but I'm gonna hold on to it. I'm looking forward to having a go on it as it's supposed to be one of the best handheld harvest moons. The Sealed one, I'm gonna leave it untouched :)

I purchased a copy recently but I brought it back to the shop as it had a tear in the paper sleeve. It was supposed to be new, No worries I'm not in any rush to buy the game. Have fun playing it, I'm loving the Bleach Heat Soul 4 game I got today.

From last Sunday's bootsales:

Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Alpha Protocol for 360 - £7 sealed
Armored Core 4 for 360 - £3
Sonic Unleashed PS3 - £4
Namco Museum Remix Wii - £4 (worth it just to see Pac-Man's grinning face racing around in a car)
Mario Strikers Wii - £4 sealed
PC games - Alice, Alone in the Dark and Trapped: The Abduction £2 the lot. Trapped is a very dark hidden object casual game.

I've no idea if 360/PS3 have only recently come down into the £2-4 bracket, as I didn't bother to ask before, but suddenly they're for nothing, stocking up.

A couple of PSP games today and a few DS cheapies which I still needed.....

I can see that World Championship Poker being a bit of a 'complete PAL PSP collection' pursuer's nightmare in the future.
