I'm going for the full Original Game Boy Set (loose carts only) mainly because I love the GB & partly because they are so cheap!
I'm starting with the UK set which is around 395, & then there are 69 euro exclusives to get for the full PAL set.
I'm not concerned with USA carts or exclusives (at the minute)

I started focusing on GB about 3 weeks ago when I already had 8 carts, I'm now up to nearly 60, obviously this will slow down once I have all the common ones which are easier to find, it's the rarer ones that will slow me down due to price.
I set a budget of not paying more than £5 per cart (including delivery) until I'm past the first 200, so far I've stuck too it, I'm paying an average price of 2-3 per cart, hopefully I will achieve my target of 100 by 1st Jan 2013 :)

Mine used to be the exact same as that (with the Pico thrown in for good measure) but my goals have changed over the last few months. Now I want:

Full PAL SMS collection (already got yay!)
Full PAL MD collection

And then I don't know what! At the minute it's looking like I'll probably go down the Sony route after these although I've decided that I won't be going for anymore fullsets, no way I could stomach owning so many sports games I'd never play! I'll probably go for PS2/3 next, and start with action adventure, FPS's and random obscure **** (VIP on PS2 anyone :P) and see where it takes me :D. I can tell you one thing for sure though, I won't be splashing out big bucks for any games after I finish the MD set, it's bargain bin or nothing from then on !

I do keep getting very tempted by the Famicom though, I'm toying with the idea of buying a blind job lot of games from Yahoo!Japan and seeing where that goes, want to finish the MD set first though, 23 and counting!
My Trade Feedback Thread

Currently Playing: Urban Strike (MD), Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (PS2), Donkey Kong (GB)
Last Game Completed: James Bond 007: The Duel (SMS)

....I thought there were a good few more Euro exclusives than 69. I've built up a collection of around 400 (made up of UK and Euro (+Oz)) and I get the feeling that I'm not too close to completion. I reckon I've still got over 100 to go....

I've not counted through the database so I can't be sure, just a gut feel. But if I am wrong, great! means I'm far closer to a full set than I previously thought :)

I recently got PAL 360 promo Marvel ultimate alliance 2 for £1. it seems like the normal version is becoming scarce as its price is climbing all the time.

I'd say the Dreamcast is a good bet now as it is still yet to 'mature' into one of the more popular retro systems. There is a lot more competition for the older stuff which will soon make its way over to the Dreamcast and Gamecube era.

As for myself, I'd personally like to think I've kind of hit the goals I set many years ago. I've got most the games I've wanted to play now, aside from a few Commodore Amiga big box games left to complete my childhood library.

I am more of a nintendo person but I do have a lot of sega stuff lying around.

I did not know that there was only 241 saturn games. I actually own around 100 PAL games, so I may start to collect for that.

luckily I already own Panzer dragoon saga, Megaman X3 as I have heard they are a nightmare to get.

apart from them what other Saturn pal games are likely to cause problems.

My main aim at the minute is the Game Gear. I've currently got 134 games out of 196, all fully boxed and complete except 1 game which I need the instructions for. After I complete that collection i'm not sure what i'm going to focus on. I currently collect for the following systems:

Original Gameboy - 112 games
Nintendo 64 - 14 games
Super Nintendo - 16 games
Mega Drive - 23 games
Master System - 43 games
Dreamcast - 11 games
NES - 12 games

I'm not going to be collecting for any of my modern consoles such as the PSP, DS, 3DS, PS3. I don't know what console i will focus on after the GG is finished. I would love to have a complete PAL original Gameboy collection so i might focus on that. All my games are fully complete. I don't really bother with loose carts.

I originally was going for all Sega consoles that I owned as a kid (everything apart from DC and GG). I achieved this a few months ago. Since that I have decided that it would be good to go for all Sega for all Sega consoles.

DC is relatively easy and quite cheap. GG is a different beast though, wish I had started that earlier.

Are you including SG-1000 and Pico in that? I'm parting with my GG and Pico collections, hit me up a PM ;)

My long term goal is a complete PAL PS2 collection. Not entirely retro now I guess, but it's bound to be by the time I finish. Having said that, I'm hoping to have acquired all the rare and highly sought after games by the time I reach 50% of the collection, meaning the second half of the collection should be a lot quicker and cheaper to finish.

Only one complete console collection entices me, which is the GameCube. I'll eventually chase after all NTSC-U, NTSC-J and PAL GameCube releases, official accessories, console variants and bundles. About 10% of the way there on the games - have just about all of the expensive ones as I bought them on release. Honestly it's a case of rounding up the dreck like Charlie's Angels and Aquaman, which is why I keep putting it off.

I do have one major sub-collection goal - All NTSC-U, NTSC-J and PAL Metal Gear series variants. This is going to be expensive thanks to the Konami's recent tendency to have limited edition consoles to go alongside their premium packages. I've made quite a dent, but there are some vital pieces missing (e.g. PAL Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge, MGS3 Premium Package, 20th Anniversary set) . My commitment has wavered after the MGS and Peace Walker HD edition konamistyle premium packages cost me about $AU700 (after two lots of shipping, then agent fees) to get on release, so I might tone the goal down a bit.

I'm not sure, it's down to space for me I think!

I have a full Master System set already and would to have all the mega drive games eventually but they take so much room up!

I'm slowly working on a full AES, NES, 3DO & CD-I set but as this is long term goals I'm considering SFC set aswell (we'll see)

My main focus is still my Megaman collection. There are still a few elusive bits that I am still trying to track down as well as keeping an eye out for more of the Asian releases (which are all most likely fake/unofficial releases but there are some really nice ones out there). I'm also tracking down a few different bits of Megaman merchandise (figures, collectable cards etc.) that I'd love to own assuming I can make enough space for them.
