gameboy cartridge battery replacement

Postby Kyri_Ansell » Sun Jul 29, 2012 7:05 pm

so today I popped my Pokemon Gold cartridge into my gameboy to find that the battery has finally gone and I've lost everything :( but I am eager to replace the battery and start a new, however I've never done this before so some quick questions:
1. what type of screwdriver do I need to open the cartridge?
2. what would be the best type of battery to use? e.g. brand or does it not matter
3. is it easy to do?

thank you in advance :D

p.s sorry if theres already been a post on this

Cauterize's awesome tutorial   http://www.retrocollect.com/Articles/gu ... omment-792
Brand of battery does not really matter, I use Panasonic when I can install a swap out clip out of personal preference. Alternatively any tabbed battery will be fine, however you want the furthest EXPIRY DATE you can find ;)

I can also do it for you, if you are stuck (see link) 8-)

It sure would. That is the very one used in the video/tutorial linked above ;)

Good luck! It's worth doing just to squeeze more play time out of the early Pokemon titles.
