How sad am I for doing this

Postby UltraMagnus » Tue Jul 24, 2012 5:38 pm

Sick of not knowing what games to complete and games lying around everywhere.

Just recently Finished work ( its Ok though as I start a new one in a month )

but have took the time to tidy up my collection. I have bought a load of protectors from Sentinel64, plastic DVD, cd, and double cd cases and bought some shelving.

So far so good, but I hate not being able to remember what games I have completed or not. So as sad as it is I have went and bought these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/490-x-8mm-Round-Coloured-Labels-STICKY-DOTS-STICKERS-CIRCLE-CODE-SELF-ADHESIVE-/130724984268?pt=UK_Crafts_Children_s_Crafts_EH&var=&hash=item1e6fd0f5cc#ht_2612wt_1154

Just to stick on a game every time I complete one so I can look along the shelf and instantly pick out which games I have completed and which ones I have not.

Starting from scratch on all my retro games so I can enjoy completing them again. Final fight ( Snes ) and Gunstar Heroes ( megadrive ) are the first to receive one.

Its a little sad I know, but does anybody else have strange things they do.

I do know one guy who gets a game, completes it, then sells it and then trys to replace it with a sealedld copy.

Hmm... About the "weirdest" thing that I can think of myself doing is buying original discs to replace all my backups of rare PS1\SATURN\DC games - even after I went through the trouble of making cases and printing artwork to get the discs looking as authentic as possible.

Of course, I'm not the one who considers that odd - it's the family, who can't understand why I spend money to get a game I already have a copy of.
I get it - 'cause I'm a collector.

I guess sad and weird is relative to what we enjoy?

I love a bit of OCD :D (there's a TV program on tonight about it)

When I buy SNES/SFC & Gameboy games, I swap the backs of the carts from other games I have because I can't stand yellowing!
Now ive ended up with all sorts of cart insides & odd fronts, I usually keep them to re-use the batteries.

If I buy boxed games they have to be mint (really mint) or it goes through me, when I but hardware, that has to be mint! Ive bought numerous gameboys & taken them all apart & assembled the best bits of each to get a perfect console

My games have to sorted & stored in a certain way & I have to keep a record of how much I paid for my games including postage.

It's not just collecting tho & as I'm getting older it's getting worse too, my council tax is £167 per month & I pay it with cash at the paypoint & when I make a payment, I put the payment slip back in the envelope & I HAVE TO put £7 in it straight away for next months payment so i need to add £160 to it because it's an even number!!!! :|
Then when my bills arrive, I have to pay them immediately, gas, electric, TV licence, I find my self anticipating the arrival of the bill so I can pay it, I have memorised the dates they usually arrive.

The worst part is when I have cash in my pocket (notes) I can't put money in my pocket unless all the notes are sorted into order & all the heads are facing the same way, if you were to put money into my pocket all mixed up, i would be able to feel it, all wrong & horrible in there!

I'm a freak!

Ive loved these!

Great stories guys.

I made spreadsheets for tracking which games I have, which have boxes, books or just the cart, then set up a count if so i know exactly how many I have, how many are complete, and what total percentage I have.

Ive done it with full lists of Ngage and Megadrive, but Im just adding Master system and Saturn games on a when I buy them basis, but its only a matter of time...

I remember when I had about 80 Dreamcast games (or around that anyways) and they took up the top shelf of my homemade shelf so I had them all in alphabetical order and they had to stay like that otherwise I'd spend ages making sure they were all in the right order! Harder to do now they're kept in two separate places but once I've got them all then the organizing shall commence!

Not entirely related to gaming but if I see a plug socket on with nothing plugged in, I have to switch it on otherwise I'll will have a mini obsession over it. I remember I had a Uni class last year with the lecturer in my class and I noticed an unused plug socket was on. Cue 90 minutes of me thinking about said socket and not actually concentrating on what we were meant to be learning! Go figure :)
