There was a side-scrolling beat 'em up arcade game I had a few goes on. It was sort of early-middle period (after Double Dragon but before Final Fight, I think). One of the characters was called Jackie (an obvious rip off of Jackie Chan) who had long hair. At the start of the game the enemy gang says "This is our territory". Any ideas?

Used to play this back in the day and it was rock hard.

Gang Wars rocked. It was hard as nails too!

Loved the train level and the big punk who swung his weapon round til he was knackered so you could give him a dig!

Strange Cart

Postby licence2ki » Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:19 pm

Hey,
I'm fairly new to the forums and have been sorting through my games and adding them to my collection on here.

I came across a copy of Turrican which im guessing was for the Japanese market
Its a purple cart with the cut-out on the left and the Caution notice on the back is mis-spelt, i've only got pal games so im guessing this is not that unusual.

So I thought id have a play of it and it loaded up with a game called Stormlord.
I couldn't find out much about it online except that a Mega Drive version was ported from the Amiga, and that a few
Japanese copy are on ebay.

Im just wondering why its in the wrong cart (also no screws on the cart and im reluctant to just pull at it)

I'm just interested in peoples opinions.

Thanks in advance, will post some screen shots shortly

Looks like someone put the wrong ROM on that cartridge (I'll put my head on the line and say it's a fake), those look like Chinese characters on the front and back of that box. The cart looks very fake, the label overshoots the boundaries and doesn't have any other text on it plus it's the wrong game!

Thats the MD version of Turrican!

As much as it is a fake - got to say I love these bootlegs.Nice purple cart , wrong game , bad labelling and spelling. I would have bought it too - knowingly. Though they don't go in my main collection they do sometimes get more use than official carts as especially the multi game ones have a weird but worthwhile mix of games on. I have one with Rambo 3 , Tetris , Thunderforce 3 , Sonic , Columns and a Mahjjong game.

Weird mix but covers a few bases and gets used a lot.

The only downside is Stormlord isnt very good.

I think I was playing it when I was about 8? So about 2000 but I 'think' it was an old game THEN perhaps.
Right, It's a real-time-strategy...

The icon on the desktop was a skull, I think when I double-clicked the shortcut I small window came up with a black background and green text stating what I wanted to do, don't remember what (Singleplayer, Multiplayer?)

A big memory is a pig squeeling noise somewhere in it, I'm thinking there might have been pigs with bombs strapped to it that explode and squeel but I don't recall too heavily.

One of the races I remember you being able to play as in the game are like tribal people that ride dinosaurs, pterodactyls etc... There were lots of races I think.

There was an editor for the game, I went on it a lot because there were at least 3 different kinds of mines in the game, and you could detonate them real-time in the editor so i'd make massive explosions, I think one of them left a green poisonious gas behind...

I've searched it up many a time and I just have no idea what it could be, but it was brilliant... If anyone knows of this game I would be so thankful!

Thank you so much!

Hey MoltenMurv, i'm not sure of the game you are reffering to but check out this link as it lists pretty much every real time strategy game from the last couple of decades, you might find the name there :)

Hope it helps.

I remember playing a 2 shoot em up game where we had to shoot medusa characters (amongst other characters) and in the end we got to a wall with a closed door and shoots being fired at us. We just ran around for ages not knowing how to get through and eventually dying.

My girlfriends parents found this in the storage room of their house. Does anyone know anything about it and what it might be worth, if anything?

Thanks in advance.

Looking to find a game, think it might of been snes, birds eye view 2 player shoot um up, the buttons ybxa would let you shoot in that direction, B shoots down, A right, Y left and X up. Remember there being quite alot of blood and when you killed someone and walked over them you would make footprints from blood. Also i think you rescue people from prison cells. Think thats all i can remember

Thanks :)

If it's possibly Ps1 then it could well be Loaded or Re-loaded.

If it was Mega Drive, the button layout would have been different, greatly altering the way you play, snes pads (and most since then) had the 4 face buttons in a perfect position for directional shooting, if it wasn't on the Super NES then it was more likely on PS1, and, as the poster above said, probably loaded or it's sequel.

Does anyone have any information on this game? I picked it up thinking it was an NES game but when I opened it the cart looks more Atari like but I can't find out much about what console it's for
