SNES hidden gems Recommends

Postby Collz69 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 10:18 am

Im looking for some good games to play on the SNES, ive got most of the common highly rated games already, Mario, Castlevania, turtles, etc as well as the majority of the good beat em ups, king of dragons, Final fight etc
I have some of the excellent SFC exclusives, Sutte Hakkun, Viloinst of Hamlin, Tetris Battle Gaiden, DOREMI Fantasy etc.

So im looking for some good titles that I might never have heard of or more obscure ones that are worth playing?

Im not really an RPG fan & not that into shoot em ups.

Any suggestions?

:)

You already have some pretty awesome SFC games so it's pretty tough to recommend something that you won't already be familiar with. There are tons of great and obscure games on the SNES worldwide, but here are five that I particularly like.

Umihara Kawase (SFC. Puzzle platformer; easy to beat, difficult to master. Very fun wire-physics game)

Magical Pop'n (SFC. Very fun platformer)

S.O.S. (NTSC. Pretty unique game where you have to escape a sinking ship. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but is good fun if it is)

Pop'n Twinbee - Rainbow Bell Adventures (PAL. Fun Sparkster-esque platformer)

Nankoku Shounen Papuwa-kun (SFC. Fun platformer/brawler, kinda like Astro Boy, but with a bit more depth/humour)

If you're into RPGs then I would highly recommend Lufia and Lufia II, they're fantastic games.
Currently working on Nintendo 64. SNES collection includes US-only Square-Enix titles.

Jap import of Front Mission. Its basically advance wars but you can customise your mechs. Most of it is in English too.... Apart from the story.. But who needs a story when A) you can make your own one up and B) you can customise mechs!

I haven't played the first Lufia but Rise of the SInistrals is one of my favourite RPGs ever! (I know, I sound like an excited teenager....)

I'm not sure it's everyone's cuppa tea, but I'm with you on that one!

Does Secret of Evermore count as a hidden gem? People always talk about Mana more than Evermore, when Evermore is much better in my opinion.

Evermore is awesome, too bad most people give up on the first overpowered boss and don't see the real game after that.

Demons Crest which has the winged demon from Ghost `n Goblins as the player character is a little unusual which i like, also another strange one is Equinox (Solstace II)

I thought Evermore was better than Zelda, up there with Chrono Trigger as the best 2.
