Guilty Pleasures

The games that are viewed in a generally negative fashion that you somehow keep going back to and enjoying.

Sega Touring Cars - Sega Saturn. I actually really enjoy playing this with the Saturn Steering wheel even with the awfull Framerate.

Captain America and the Avengers - I am just a sucker for any comic based games

TMNT - NES, I always loved this game and never even realised for years that a lot of people consider it a poor game.

I had the funnest time playing My Sims Agents! I don't think it went down too bad with reviewers, but there is certainly a sense of guilt in enjoying so much.

Not really sure if it's seen in a negative light but I love Mario Andretti Racing on the Saturn. Also, I think I am one of the few people who thought Resident Evil Outbreak (1 & 2) was any good. I actually finished it multiple times.

I found the original quite good - never got to play online however :(

I loved the first level and would play it over and over again. It was like a real-life zombie outbreak - nailing planks to stop zombies breaking in.

It's Last Battle on the MD for me.

Haven't played it for a while but was one of the first MD games that I owned. I was a huge Manga/Fist of the North Star fan then and I actually liked the graphics and sprites so I played it quite a lot.

Never finished it buy I do put it on for a blast every now and then still.

Can't see why people often consider it as worst game ever material.

There are hundreds of infinitely blander titles that have been shovelled out on the Ps1 and 2 since. Charlie's Angels springs to mind or elfbowl - how did they even dare license that??!!

That would be Summer Heat Beach Volleyball. A volleyball game obviously riding on the wave of DoA Xtreme Beach Volleyball, complete with pause modus and zoomable camera.

However it is actually a good Volleyball game and has nice extras like full videoclips of the soundtrack, and most importantly it had a trailer for Burnout 2, so I have to thank a perverted Volleyball game that I discovered Burnout...

No really its a good game but it doesn't have the best reputation.

My mates and I play a lot of **** games but FIFA 95 on the MD seems to be pulling us in at the moment.

The game looks and plays so dreadful, but theres nothing more satisfying than punting the ball from the half way line and scoring

I think my guiltiest of pleasures is not a retro game so apologies now, its Vampire Rain on the 360 - still never finished it as it is so rage enducingly difficult I can only play it in 10 min bursts else id bust a blood vessel. Saying that though, it is so bad its good - crap acting, even worse cut scenes but what makes it is the multiplayer! BRILLIANT!! Sad fact is that no one ever plays it so you will never get a game but when you have shin kicked someone to death online - you know you will never play anything better.

The main game that I played frequently and that is viewed in a negative fashion, and can only be seen as a guilty pleasure is DOA beach volleyball. Man have I sunk some hours into that one in the past, playing volleyball in the day and riding my luck in the casino in the evening. The concept of the game is ridiculous, with the main target of the game seemingly being to attain the skimpiest items of beachwear possible and to form relationships with the other "girls"

But I found the slow pace of the game to be quite relaxing, and to be honest my main enjoyment of the game came in the mode of the casino slot machines. I picked up a copy in a bundle that I picked up last week but have not played it yet, I don't think my missus will appreciate its quirky charms

Couldn't agree more! That is one criminally overlooked title.

Guilty pleasure- The Nokia N-Gage. I'm one of the few believers that this is a good system only given a poor rap due to certain journalists who gave it a hard time. I'm sure one of them can be quoted saying 'Gaming isn't mean't to be on mobile phones'. There are some great little titles on the handheld.

Grid Run (Saturn) - absolutely slaughtered by the press at the time, I find it a fun little capture the flag game.

Kasumi Ninja (Jaguar) - awful beyond belief, but has to be played for the wonder that is Angus and his fireball-shooting privates.

NFS Underground 1/2 (PS2/Cube/Xbox) - Chavvier than a Burberry cap and Argos jewellery, I just like upgrading the cars to ridiculous degrees. And they're pretty easy, which suits my skill level!

Chaos Control (Saturn) - Terrible cutscenes, predictable FMV-based on-rails shooter gameplay and it can be completed in half an hour. Why do I keep going back to it?

Add any snooker/pool games and any Shanghai/Mahjongg titles.

Loading Sanxion on the Commodore 64 just to listen to the loading music, I may even load Green Beret after if I need a double boost of "taking me back to when the grass was greener, the sun was brighter and the days longer and care free"

That's what its all about...

Ahh, ahhhhh, it burns :o

I like Rule of Rose and Trapt on the PS2, neither of which are well thought of in general.

Festers Quest generally gets slated a lot. But I found out the reason it does - there is one slight change between the NTSC and the Pal version which makes the Pal version good, the NTSC version almost impossible - the ability to shoot through walls!
