I can't compete with chocklo as unfortunately I don't own his money printing machine  But I've still got a sizeable GB collection, all boxed and complete:

~250 GB + all Twin Pack releases
~125 GB Color (Black Cartridge)
~140 GB Color (Clear Cartridge)
~200 GB Advance
~40 Import Games and Unlicensed Games

I don't collect the hardware, I'm happy with the few consoles I got:

Classic Game Boy (Tetris Bundle)
Clear Case Game Boy
Silver Game Boy Pocket
Green Game Boy Color (no box :( )
Pink GBA
Pink GBA 101

Would like to add a micro, the Zelda GBA and a boxed GBC to that but haven't had any luck in the wild yet with those.

Maybe not, but you do have PAL region Cool World, Hammerin Harry, Ramparts and Hyperdunk to name a few which I've had my eyes open for years for and not managed to bag yet! :D

I'd also like your Robocop 2 please......

Got back home from University yesterday so today i decided to take a bunch of pictures of my collection all in one place, huge wall of photos incoming! (sorry about some of the blurry pictures, was using my phone)

Firstly my main focus, Gameboy Pocket Consoles.

Image
Image

Still waiting on a extreme green console to arrive from America and i have a few doubles which i'm not too sure what i'm going to do with, i really like the Japanese boxes so i might just keep them! Hopefully going for a full collection, mainly rare and expensive Japanese limited editions to go now.

Here is what the big box Japanese consoles look like inside the cardboard, i believe there was only gold and silver versions released like this.(Gold left, Silver right, hard to tell with the light)

Image

Next is Gameboy Color consoles, got the base colors and a few other rarer consoles. Not really sure how far i will take this collection but will probably go for some of the Pokemon consoles and a few of the awesome dual colored ones released in japan.

Image
Image
Image

My only gameboy light, unboxed and with annoying hard stickers which i can't figure how to remove without scratching the console. Shame it's unboxed but it's a awesome color and was pretty cheap.

Image

A couple of original DMG consoles, i might go for a unboxed set of colors as getting them boxed is a nightmare and expensive. The Play It Loud series mainly came in plastic boxed with paper inserts like the Japanese GBP above but now most are missing the inserts.

Image

Now the last of the console collections, GBA SP, sold my GBA consoles as i had no real affinity for them! I will probably go for GBA SP after GBP as there has some many cool editions and the console itself is great. Just a shame they scratch so easy! :D

Image
Image
Image

Now lastly the games, didn't bother taking photos of my boxed GBC and GBA games as they are mainly rubbish ones and i forgot about loose GBA carts, i have a few good games and a bunch of mediocre ones, plan at buying all the decent titles for GBA over summer.

Image

The Pokemon games in the bottom right of this photo are not working, i got them really cheap but i seems they have damaged contacts/circuits so cannot me fixed :( . (I have close up photos but wont bother posting here for the sake of space)
Image

Lastly a bunch of japanese games, some are pretty darn good but i can't play most due to them being in Japanese ;) .
Image

Hope you enjoyed looking, if you have any questions about anything feel free to ask. It's been a pleasure reading about and looking at the collections in this thread and i would love more people to post photos for me the gawp at!

@Joey Cheers, i can't see how anyone can dislike gameboy boxes as they are some of the best looking! Shame i can't find more in the wild because eBay prices are so expensive.

@RossDaBoss I've looked at them and bid on them, however i just don't really like the design and always think i could be buying a gameboy pocket with this money! :D. I'm sure now that i have all most of the more common and cheaper GBP i will start picking up for GBA SP's if i see them cheap.

Is that an orange GBA?! When did that come out?! The only systems I remember were the white, clear blue and purple.

the color is called spice and if my memory serves me right it was released in all regions, i don't remember when exactly, but i think it was around the time that the SP came

I may not be a GameBoy collector but I'm certainly a GameBoy lover!
Fairly recently bought myself an original GameBoy with a few games to treat myself to something I always wanted as a kid. Now have my eye on a GameBoy micro, though they seem to be a little more expensive than I'd like...

Mine are for playing though, not for keeping in pristine condition.

Can anyone recommend me some good games? I have Supermario 1 and 2, and Tetris, am on the look out for Kirby and Double Dragon too...

I'm no Gameboy expert (though I love the ole breezeblock) but some of my favourites are Wario Land, the Donkey Kong Land series, Super RC Pro-Am, Star Wars and Mickey's Dangerous Chase. None of those should cost more than a quid or two.

Slightly pricier but well worth it: Metroid II, Final Fantasy Legend series, Mega Man series, Revenge of the Gator, Bubble Ghost, Kid Icarus, Gargoyle's Quest and Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow.

First I must say Hello, My first gamesystem as a kid was a gameboy and prefer them over a television console anyday. I found this thread because I have a question.

I have a Gameboy Color (GCB-001) that is the Yellow/Blue Pokemon Limited Edition one. However it's missing the pokemon that should be on the edge of the viewing screen. I began to wonder, are they stickers and the person I bought it from peeled them off or is this a "misprint" if you will or possibly someone replaced the screen with a different gameboy color screen? The battery cover appears to come from a green Gameboy Color but I'm curious if this is still "rare". It has the Pokemon logo near the Select/Start buttons and the Blue colored direction pad as well as the green and red A-B buttons.

Thanks, Long Live Nintendo.

Just bought another GBP on eBay! It was a tab expensive but cheaper than they normally sell for :D. My Extreme Green GBP i ordered a while ago should be arriving soon after a kerfuffle with the posting but i will post pictures ASAP

I think i only have 4/5 i need left, all of which will be again be on the expensive side! Depending on what eBay listing there are i might be able to finish a complete GBP collection by the end of the year, next summer by the latest hopefully!

Whoa, she's a beaut!

I wonder, how many of you collect to complete a set and how many of you collect to play the gameboys?

This week I have been enjoying Kirby's Dreamland - what a great game!

That Extreme Green is gorgeous. Don't suppose you would sell me it ;) Where did you manage to get it from?

I've just bought a complete silver pocket with the black screen. I've finally got all the regular colours.

This is my collection without the 2 silver pockets. Image

I'm going to be adding more in the future and i'll put up an updated pic when the other silver gets here.

I'm going to be getting some Japanese pockets soon enough as well. Some of them look stunning.

myates - I collect and play gameboys. I've always loved the Gameboy and the Game Gear due to being in the hospital a lot when i was younger and all i did was play on them. Now my love for them has only intensified so i enjoy collecting and playing at the same time :)
