What's your favourite franchise (apart from Mario & Sonic)

While I was having a browse for some DS titles, it struck me that I could almost always rely on a pink ball of air filled cutesy goodness to give me a nice injection of cheerful gaming. Throughout the years, the franchise has rarely thrown out a stinker and continued to impress with it's trademark cutesy charm and new innovative ideas.

I am of course talking about Kirby! The critisisms are normally around the easy difficulty, but aside from Air Ride which I wasn't that keen on, I've pretty much enjoyed most/all of the outings on NES, Gameboy, GBA, SNES (yup, even dream course) Wii and DS.

Although I own it, I've never played the Crystal Shards. I've also never played Mass Attack.

So, what are your favourite franchises that have survived through the decades?

And even though there are only 2 games and they are current Gen. I love the Marvel ultimate alliance games. I suppose you could add Xmen legends to the franchise, but yeah, I would love a 3rd Ultimate alliance game.

Wonder Boy, though it hasn't really survived the decades Rayman would be on my list too, though it's more of a modern franchise.

Need for Speed - loved it from the first game though admittedly not played every incarnation.
Gran Turismo - can be trying at times especially at endurance stages but the inner car geek loves it so.
Grand Theft Auto - always get side-lined mucking about rather than completing missions but it's all good.

Zelda, never fails to keep me amused over 20 years, and FIFA I suppose, can't say I dearly love it but I've been pretty much constantly playing it since I was at school.

It's down between Metroid, Castlevania and Mega Man. Too hard to make a decision.

The Phantasy Star series kept (and still keeps) me entertained for many hours. Whether on SMS, Megadrive or Dreamcast - its all good.

Honourable mentions go to Shinobi, Alex Kidd and Thunderforce.

Just to show there is not too much Sega bias here.......Castlevania, Metroid and the SNES Super Star Wars Trilogy - all fab!

Hmmm zelda definelty, I've been playing them since link to the past was released, and tomb raider, I've played and beat all the ones on ps1. And also crash bandicoot, oh and metal gear.
