Without Rare games and in particular Goldeneye, the N64 would have been a much poorer console. They aren't looked at as a great games company any more, simply because they haven't managed to repeat their now distant past N64 success since parting ways with Nintendo and joining up with Microsoft.

That's what I thought too - I would suggest that Rare are one of the most well-known, multi-award winning and revered development teams in the world, but then I noticed that the original poster if this thread is in the USA? so maybe Rare are not held in the same high esteem as they are here in Europe?
For my tuppence worth - the first game I ever purchased was Jet Pac for my brand new 16K Sinclair Spectrum in 1982 with my pocket money and the stuff that Ultimate Play the Game (who I'm sure most people know evolved into RARE) produced in the early 80's will always have a place clost to my gaming heart. I'm sure many of you will have gathered by now that I am a big N64 fan and it was the likes of Banjo Kazooie, Blast Corps, Goldeneye and Conker's Bad Fur Day which stood them out from the crowd in the 64-Bit era. I couldn't possibly pick out a favourite, there have been too many. Perfect Dark Zero on the XBox 360 was an absolute stinker though.
