http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONIC-ADVENTURE-PROMO-SEGA-DREAMCAST-COMPLETE-/270868481316?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item3f11050524#ht_1885wt_804

Any idea why the arma dillo member from retro collect is trying to sell "promo" versions of sonic adventure when they are clearly just the same loose GD-ROM's as the retail games. Promo copys are allways white and sometimes have Not for resale written on the inside of the disk. Seems bizzare to me any answers ?

Hows about sending him a nice message on eBay and ask the question instead of calling him out on the forum?

I bought approximately 100 off these from a guy over a year back who use to work for sega, he insisted these were promo copies off the game, i totally know what you mean when you say it should be on a white disc but why he would have 100 copies with perfectly genuine looking inlays like that is beyond me so i took his word on it that they were promotionally given out before it was released.

Yes it does have a back inlay. It looks as if its been stretched and not super quality but the guy i purchased them from assured me they are fine. Have sold over 50 off them till now and never had anyone complain so i guess thats always a good thing?

I totally wasn't trying to accuse you of anything, I just showed megaroid to see if he knew anything as I'd never heard of this, I'm tempted to buy one off you just to have a look lol. But a stretched cover doesn't sound overly genuine to me...

I thought that private eBay message would not be appropriate vs an open fourm because only I would see the answer. I didnt mean to be unkind the use of "any idea" may of been sorry. All searches on eBay return white labeled disks and these seem to be the rare ones "i.e. 500 copies". I just hoped that arma_dillo2009 had not been conned when he bought these I have personally seen spindles with hundreds of copys of sega rally or other sellers selling jet set radio or chu chu rocket in large quantiys in disk only. I have personally bought one of these type of copies of sega rally from another seller and clearly the front cover is very well printed but the back they have compressed the cover so the dreamcast logo on the side looks like a oval shape. I was quite annoyed when this happend to be as I thought that the game was full pall boxed and paid around £5 for it.

There is however a very rare US version of Sonic Adventure " Limited edition" that was only loaned out in the US with rental dreamcasts.
here is an image of it these are quite saught after and the reson for the public discussion was to find if a similar thing had happened in the UK.

Thanks for your time arma_dillo2009 and hope I havent alarmed you in any way just thought I would put it out there.

Thanks Megaroid

There is a rare Sonic Adventure Trial/Demo - it's the one from E3, it plays on PAL systems but has JPN writing on the disc centre. It lets you play a number of each characters levels and the only great difference between it and retail is that Knuckles voice is different.

Congrats man, keep us posted on how you go with the last 10, have you got a nice big shelf to display them on?

I now have 4 Dreamcast consoles and the game collection keeps growing with the addition of these :D

Whilst doing my get everything together and see what I have marathon I came across a parcel from play asia and inside it has a Dreamcast Watch all boxed and minty. Only wore it about 2 or 3 times then put it with the rest of my Dreamcast stuff where it's been shifted around for the last 4 years as we move around. Nice thing to have and a proper gaming collectors piece and before my family grew from 1 - 3 children it was an extravagance I could afford, 3 kids have since stopped the extravagant gaming delights :(

Anyway it looks exactly like this :-

Haven't seen many around and not seen them on fleabay either so I guess it makes me a proper Dreamcast nerd
