picked up prototype 2 and mass effect 3 N7 edition, sadly the code for mass effect is used but that is to be expected for a preowned copy. was cheap enough

Chocklo are you actually intending to go for a full Wii set then? Cause some of the junk in there is pointless to have if you don't

Picked up my Mario Edition DSi XL from the post office. And boy was I in for a surprise.
It should have made me suspicious because of the wrapping of the package - a black plastic foil.

I unpacked it. THE HORROR!

Image

Some of the damages can occur during shipping. THe bigger rips I can sort of maybe understand if they removed some stickers... but a goddamned actual hole? On a supposedly new product? Come on.

I wrote the shop a mail with this photo explaining the situation and camly and politely asked their opinion about this.
When I read the guestbook entries, I sort of doubt I'll ever get an answer. Apparently I'm not the only one that had this happening. And apparently the shop isn't too keen on answering emails.
Guess I should have read the Guestbook before ordering. Thats what you get for surfing around webshops near the end of the night shift.

Well, we'll see how this goes. I haven't opened the box yet - it still seems factory sticker sealed... seems.

Oh well if they don't answer, so be it, it still was cheap and has New Super Mario Brothers DS in it. At least I hope lol.

First, many many thanks to Mr Gunstarhero for the wii money boxes! (and the bonuses inside! - see the retro pickups). They're absolutely fab! :D

Keeping with the wii theme, I've had a pretty decent week this week.

Some of the games could be difficult to find in future. Busy Scissors, Turbo Trainz, Vet Life, Defendin de Penguin weren't widely available titles.

Image

oops, forgot to add these to the piccies as well.

Where on earth did you find that Samurai Shodown Anthology? Okay I know isn't the rarest game ever but I've never even see the Wii version before, especially with a UK PEGI logo on the box.

Also, Turbo Trains looks crap but that's one awesome name!

Heh, difficult to find in the future... I bought Cranium Kabooki for a tenner, thinking a kids game may get rare. It has special secret glasses inside (well red foil between to slabs of painted cardbord). Hm. Kids game, easily damage- and loseable acessory... nice!

Also, let me know if Fling Smash is any good - I saw that, the price isn't too bad with a Wii Remote included. I mainly play the Wii with my girlfriend and we enjoy party games on it so that may be a good investment.

Im no expert, but to me this looks like a german USK white logo has been ripped from the box. It looks exactly the right size. Might be wrong though but why would someone do such a thing?

:D intending to? no. But, i'm getting to the stage where I probably will. I've pretty much got hold of all the decent stuff that people know about and I'm going through the 'obscure title' phase. I couldn't resist that Turbo Trainz. Mario Kart on train tracks! ace! :D

To be honest, I don't even know how many titles are currently out there. I guess they're still churning em out as well.

It's really enjoyable though hunting down wii games. I'm discovering loads i didn't know existed.

I'll be moving on to DS soon. I expect collecting for the DS to be every bit as enjoyable (though probably more difficult).

I'd guess the Wii has about 1500-2000 games. I can understand obscure stuff. But I mean, come on. Vet Life? Thats one of a million pet games and it's even by a big name publisher. It can't get any more mainstream ;)

Hmm, I'd debate the assessment on Vet Life. Firstly though - I openly admit, I've only been collecting Wii for just over a month so I'm not qualified or sufficiently equipped to argue, just interpreting my observations and experiences picked up so far.

In the past month, I've hit countless GAMEs, Gamestations, CEXs, Grainger Games, HMVs, ASDAs etc up and down the UK and not once seen a Vet Life in the wild. Believe me, when I hit the stores, I really have an in depth flick of each and every single wii title.

Secondly, I use stock available on websites as a gauge - CEX has two currently with neither of them being availale on line. There's one in Scarborough and one in Camden.

Amazon's got three but they're all priced above £20. None up on ebay currently doing an EU search - though I haven't looked individually at what's been available from each country seperately (which can give you different results)

I also check your regular online stores to see if they have stock - play etc. Can't find any with stock available.

Thirdly, I check to see what reviews are available for a certain game. One such resource would be gamefaqs - no detailed reviews (though 2 users have rated it).

Lastly - I'd do a generic Google check to see what info was available on it.

This is by no means a perfect system, and I'm not saying that Vet Life is a rare game (there are 3 on Amazon) - the above is merely a list of tasks that I go through to help assess what 'may' be difficult to locate in future.......in case I 'may' intend to go for a complete set :D ......sheesh! 1500-2000 titles....probably won't happen :(

That is some in depth research there. :)

My complex system involves buying every current RPG and anything from a low key/budget publisher, gotta strike gold on some of them.

Can't argue with that logic :) - to be honest, that's a sound enough approach for any platform.

My problem is that I've pretty much hit all of the rpgs now so I've moved on to the rarer titles. Unfortunately, there aren't any resources out there which define what the rare obscure titles are - so, it's been a continuous but enjoyable learning process.

Check any list on google and forums and the likes of Step to the Beat, Shadow's tale, The Rising Star games, One Piece, normally get called.

There's a ton of stuff out there though that doesn't appear on 'rare' lists which I haven't seen in the wild before which, according to the research, are rarer than those appearing on the normal rare lists.

I can sort of relate this with SNES collecting. In the earlier years, resources would suggest that Chrono Trigger, Mana and FF3 were rare. They weren't and since then wished that I had concentrated harder on stuff like Hyper V-Ball, Family Dog and.........bloody Beethoven.

The wii will be a really interesting console to collect for, because there really are hundreds of these such games which were ignored and 'could' be scarce in the future.

Apologies, I appear to have hijacked this thread and turned it in to a wii collector thread.

Back on topic.....I'm on the road currently and if I'm not back home too late will post some piccies of this weeks pickups when I get back :D

But this week so far I've purchased -

wii Fritz Chess
wii Pajama Sam
wii Freddi Fish and the missing Kelp Seed
wii David Leadbetter's My Personal Golf Traininer
wii Saiyuki
wii Vertigo (quite pleased - English version)
wii 5d's Wheelie Breakers (Yu-gi-oh)
DS Golden Sun
DS Runaway

Absolutely correct now that you mention it. It was an FSK 0 logo. But yeah, why the hell remove that?

Quite a decent week on the modern games front this week. Sweetened by the fact that I've mostly been spending GAME credit and CEX vouchers.

Firstly, I was buzzing to find that Cave Story in the wild! Snapped it up immediately and spent some oif my CEX credit.

I saw the One Piece listed on Amazon at £25. At that price I was expecting the Euro version - which was still good value so I snapped it up. It turned out to be the UK version - woohoo! :D

Great finds there Chocklo, particularly One Piece UC2.

I've just picked up Aliens in the Attic and Emergency Heroes (Wii) up for £5 and £4 respectively from Grainger Games, Also got the PS3 game Spiderman Shattered Dimensions where you play the 4 different Spideys for a fiver from a bootsale. Don't normally buy current games from bootsales, they're either too costly or more often than not I already own the ones I want, but this one is £15 on Amazon so I'm pleased :D

2 DS games today
Image
Flushed Away is UKV and TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is SCN both are CIB, and got them for 3£ each, and that's a very good price in Norway, since you almost never get a DS game below 5-6£, and you are lucky to even find them at that price
