Test Monkeys Required... Apply within!

Postby Sentinel64 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 11:09 pm

Hey guys hows it going,

I thought i would make a post to see if there were any willing test monkeys out there - its not that bad honest...
To cut a long story short i have been developing some new SNES & N64 cases / game protectors to protect my collection, after not being all that impressed with others previously purchased.

Having spent a while pondering over the spec; Material, thickness and measurements i've finally got something which i am really happy and impressed with - a good solid super snug protective case made from the all important PET!

Now what i was hoping from some of you guys was to send out a handful of samples to get your honest and expert opinions on any tweaks and improvements you think might be needed - likewise suggestion on this thread would be awesome!

If you think that you can spare 5mins to take a look then please get in touch - additionally we have created a website www.sentinel64.com for further info and videos about what i've been trying to achieve.

Thanks Rich!

I wouldn't be good for testing seeming as i don't collect boxed games for the those systems. Just wanted to say great job on the protectors from what i can see on your website, and it's awesome you have came to the retro gaming community looking for feedback! :D

I can see on the site that you are working on gameboy protectors, along with NES ones which sounds good to me! Are you planning any more protectors for the future, ones i would really love to see are protectors for gameboy console boxes, but i can't imagine there has a big enough market to justify them. :?

Also, you might want to grab some other domain names like VideoGameProtectors.com or RetroGameCases.com, if you do well with initial orders could be good to have some websites like that even if they just redirect to your current site. :)

Thanks for all your responses, advice and suggestions - it really is much appreciated and the Retro Collect community seem awesome!

Hash47 thanks for the suggestion about domain names, it could be a good shout depending on how much interest and a following these protectors establish. Were currently running a relatively simple website through moonfruit (which is surprisingly good!!). As for the protectors for your boxed Game Boys hmm.. something to consider, my only concern would be that it would be very niche!

I think i need to sit down and established exactly which protectors would best meet everyone's requirements in protecting their most beloved treasured and prized games! I'm currently thinking primarily NES and Game Boy, then perhaps Game Gear and atari - Please shout if you disagree or think my priorities are all wrong!!??

As for all you lovely people who have said you wouldn't mind checking out the SNES & N64 cases can i ask you to either PM me your postal address through here, or go through the 'contact us tab' on the website www.sentinel64.com and i will get them out to you tomorrow, and await your kind words.

Thanks again

Protectors for Panzer dragoon saga pal saturn sleeves would be nice I have to wrap mine in poly pockets to get them to fit.

Guess it would be nice to have them to fit consoles like mega drive / multimega guess you could charge £10 for that sort of thing would be useful for collectors who display there consoles , also the nes action set would be nice.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys and i have today sent out a few samples, so i hope to get some more interesting feedback before long.

A handful of you expressed an interest saying ' I will be your monkey 'but actually i only received one or two emails from the retro collect forum which is a shame. If you guys were still interested in taking a look or even prospectively think you might want a few in the future then please get in touch.

I hope to hear from you all soon!

I have US and Japanese SNES and N64 games, and a few NES titles, so I'd probably be a good port of call to test them. I'll get around to sorting out some contact soon...

Glad to see that everyone has begun to receive their samples and first impressions are good! I understand everyone is busy so no rush, i'm particularly incredibly busy myself what with writing a dissertation due next week.....

When you do find some time i look forward to seeing what you think, if its good then please write stuff on the comment page on my website www.sentinel64.com if its bad..... well lets just hope its not bad im sure it wont be!? Like wise a like on facebook would also be awesome post your pics etc etc.... :)

Clarkie64, sorry i didnt get back to you i thought i had replied to everyone you must have slipped under the radar however i'm fairly sure a sample to you did get sent out. If it doesn't arrive i will have to get another out to you.

A final word - if anyone else would like to sample these cases then just get in touch, i'm all about getting feedback at the moment so your help is most appreciated.

Many thanks

As I walked through the door from work today I was handed a thin envelope, low and behold it was the sample you sent. I must say, these box protectors are top draw! So much better than the flimsy ones I currently own. Thanks Sentinel, I'm off to comment on your site now :D
