£2.50 postage....needless when it's priced at almost £30,000.

Ulp, didn't see this in time to post a heads-up for any N64 collectors out there who would have been interested, but somebody got an absolute bargain here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HARVEST-MOON-64-NINTENDO-N64-/220948196129?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item337189eb21&autorefresh=true

Hopefuly it was snapped up by one of Retro Collects N64 collectors

Yeah, got the automated eBay e-mail alerting me to it being listed this morning. I'll be bidding on it, that's for sure. Just waiting on the confirmation e-mail from the seller that the cover is original.

Nope, I've got a full PAL set, but only have the classics version of this game, so very keen to rectify this. Trouble is, I hate paying over the odds for any games, I prefer to find things on the cheap so I'm more than likely going to be outbid

I know what you mean. There's better nothing than getting a rarer game. Except getting a rare game cheap ;)

Yeah I have my eye on that too, although I do have the more common re-release, also without instructions

Absolutely hate eBay sometimes. :)

Won 4 Dreamcast games (99p apiece!) and the guy tries to charge me £8.00 for SECOND CLASS inland postage. Sent him a message to ask him to combine the postage, and he replies with "You're only paying £3.96 for the games anyway. What's the problem?"

Sigh.

Personally if I was being asked to pay that and given that reason I'd ask for them to be sent separately.

I have had this happen to myself in the past, now if I plan on bidding on several things from the same seller I always send a message to see if they will combine shipping before bidding, they are under no obligation to reduce shipping costs so if they think it sold to cheap it is an easy way to gain a few extra £.

Always take into consideration postage costs when placing your bid then you wont be to disappointed if the seller will not combine costs, if you are really not happy about the situation just tell him you don't want to go through with the sale. If even with the £8 postage it is still a good buy and you go through with the deal you can always mention the excessive postage in your feedback, this wont help you much but it may make him think twice about ripping folks off in the future :D

If you didn't ask beforehand you can't really expect a discount, but if the seller is being arsey and annoying you tell him if he won't combine postage costs you expect to have four separate parcels - after all he can't really complain if he's trying to stiff you :)

Yeah, that's what's happened in the end. Or so he says. Reckons he ships everything in separate envelopes anyway, and that's why he doesn't ever combine postage. I generally charge £2.00 for first class recorded, and did three games for £3.00 first class recorded last week as I knew that's about what it would cost. £2.00 a pop for second class standard is just taking the Mick. :x

But, you're absolutely right in that I should have asked before I placed a bid. The extra postage does take my buys from the "good" category into the "not so good" one, unfortunately. We're talking the lower-end Dreamcast titles here, and they're barely worth the 99p, let alone £2.99 apiece! If I'd had a bit of forethought I would have done alright. Oh well!

Lesson learnt, I suppose. :)

Quite easy actually. ebay's rules clearly state that you do not have to combine postage, BUT that you're not allowed to charge more for postage than it cost you at the same time. So, if he sends you one package that costs less to ship, request a partial refund on the difference. If he does not do it, just file a PayPal claim. They'll show no mercy, I know this from experience. It usually ends with you getting a FULL refund on everything and getting to keep the games. That'll show him ;)

thats a strange rule because its described as post & packaging - so who decides how much the packaging is worth... or is it completely irrellevant and only the psotal charge that is taken into account... if so i might just start sticking stamps on games without any packaging and sending them just for a laugh...

but on the whole if u buy multiple games for a penny asking for combined shipping rate is a bit cheeky imo providing they send everything seperate i cant see a problem... . they arent forcing you to buy the games they will be basically be out of games and out of pocket if they combined shipping on things selling for loose change

Of course you're allowed to charge for the packaging, but charging 5 or 10 quid for a cardboard box is not acceptable and PayPal will agree with that in case of a claim.

Your argument as to why it sucks for sellers makes no sense. The packaging and postage costs are neutral. The seller pays them with the money the buyer sent over for p&p. It's not part of the actual sale and thus a seller should not expect to make money with it. That's not how it is meant to be. So, it makes no sense for a seller to ship separately UNLESS they have an automated system in place that works on a one-by-one basis like zoverstocks. This is a practical concern though, not a financial.
