Can anyone recommend a good ol fashioned Hong kong/Chinese Kungfu slapstick movie? The last two I saw was Kung fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer and I loved em. Any recommendations?

Not sure if it's what you're thinking of, but most Jackie Chan films could fit into that category. Any of the Police Story films are pretty decent for example, may dig one out for tonight's viewing pleasure myself :D

I have the limited edition on DvD boxset of Battle Royale. I got it for about 16 quid, now it goes for something like 60 to 80. Crazy but i can understand why, as it's a very good set.

Never knew it fetched that much! That's a good buy mate!

Most Japanese horror/action films are quality, I always liked The Ring & The Grudge movies much better than their English counterparts too.

Films that I've watched recently that I can recommend

Hedwig and the angry inch - Fantastic musical. The music is so catchy and the story is so powerful. I've watched this movie more times that I can count and I've nearly worn out the CD soundtrack too XD

Inglourious Basterds - I didn't think I would like this film...but I LOVE IT!! NAZI SCALPS!!

Let's lower the tone here....

Porky's was on last night.

10/10! :D

The gags, though purile (and the film doesn't pretend that they're anything other than that) seem to have aged ok.

top drawer!

Haha, I was tempted when I noticed it was on but I was knackered! I love that bit in the shower where the teacher comes in, has me in stitches every time!

As for what i've watched lately:

Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl (or maybe it was Frankenstein girl Vs Vampire Girl, can't remember): Proper crap film, but worth a watch just for how bad and corny it is. The opening scene is a must see though, 5 minutes of cheesy, ketchup covered corniness :)

Initial D (again!!!): Quality film, but then I love early 80's Japanese cars so maybe I'm biased. Again, quite a corny storyline, but plenty of good race scenes and a good few comedy moments too!

And finally one I didn't have to read Underworld Awakening 3D: The 3D was crap compared to some I've seen so lets just overlook that part! The film itself wasn't too bad, the story wasn't as good as the first one but the kiddie vamp/wolf thing was excellent! Didn't really have an end though, they left it open for the next film to carry straight on, which is OK but at least wrap the film up before introducing the next one :). Worth a watch just don't go to a Showcase cinema to see it, cost me just short of £20 for 2 tickets and that was without the glasses as we already have some and £15 worth of sweets on top too !

You seen this crap before

It's a guilty pleasure of mine, an interesting trashy blend of sci-fi, action, horror and thriller.

The Wraith, aw man I remember catching that late night on the BBC or something. Kept watching it cause of the car aspect of it, somehow reminded me of Black Moon Rising, a film I loved back in the day simply due to Linda Hamilton

Car related though and what I feel is one of THE best automotive films of all time is this...

...it's a million times better than Cannonball Run and though a comedy, the cars are brilliant. I mean, a Cobra 427 vs a Ferrari Daytona Spider  :D

I just finished watching Hobo With A Shotgun. And wow is this one fantastic piece of film making . What the talents of Rodriguez, Tarantino could not achieve in homage throwbacks to grindhouse cinema. Jason Eisener achieves and exceeds, in making a work of art.

Underneath an orgy of gregariousness indiscriminate violence, synonymous with exploitation films. There is a meaningful thought provoking message about violence. Mainly to do with the fear of violence, violence won't solve violence, and to a lesser extent the sexual aspect to violence.

With brief scenes between hobo and prostitute Abby, in her apartment. Adding levity and character development, in a very much knowing clichéd fashion. This is one of the best films of 2011 i have seen.

Yeah that bit is brilliant

Last Monday, I watched "The Emperor's New Groove" (Oddly enough my boyfriend randomly really wanted to watch it). It's actually really good, I'd seen it once when I was younger but it didn't bother me too much. Watching it now has made me realise it was quite an underrated Disney film. Many lols were had.
