:( sounds eerily like what happened to the company I worked for as mentioned before. Wonder how many more times this is going to be played out in coming months :(

Got a gift card for my birthday at the weekend, and spent it this morning. Returned to another store 4 hours later and they had all the signs up about no refunds, no exchanges and no gift cards. Kinda lucky, in a sad way.

they can say no gift cards? that makes no sense since that is already paid for at the store, so if they don't take the cards they have sold, then they basicly steals your money

Not 100% sure as I'm not a qualified lawyer - but from what happened to Zavvi (the old Virgin Megastores) they went into administration and did the same. In essence, a gift card holder becomes a minor "creditor" - I think Clintons Cards may have bought the credit system and we could exchange the gift card at a reduced rate of cas - i.e. £20 gift card = £10 cash.

Seeing as the GAME group owe thousands to banks, distributors and rental on shops - these people will get the priority money.

Goodbye game, your rip off prices & lack of decent titles won't be missed. :D

Unfortunately the greedy owners had to destroy Electronics Boutique & Gamestation along the way! therefore effectively removing competition & in turn any chance of fair pricing.

Yeah, that's exactly what we did in Focus. Though the policies changed after a few days due to public pressure and some relenting had to be made by those in charge. Honestly, there's nothing worse than having to face a customer you know should be getting what they're asking for but you can't deliver because of upper management and the administrators - I really feel for the staff no matter how badly trained they were :(

From memory, if you paid for something with credit card and needed a refund it was easier as you could go through your card providers. Debit card to an extent was similar but cash caused issues. I think there's some interweb advice concerning these points if anyone's pondering what their possible avenues are in respect to refunds and such. The administration company themselves should provide a direct number in store as well for such grievances.

I'm guessing at least they didn't have a truly massive showroom sale the weekend previous to the announcement with sales of many thousands of £s which then couldn't be delivered due to non-payment of suppliers and couldn't be refunded for the afore mentioned reasons...man that was a fun few weeks  Was so stupidly run to the point we had customer stock that'd been put on an invoice, paid for and waiting for collection in the store's warehouse but because that stock had effectively become a "store asset" we couldn't pass it on to the customer and were left to "deal with it".

As i said before.
They have gone into administration but wont go completely.

There was 4/5 companies that offered to buy GameGroup and they refused (Trying to keep their profits and running basically).
Now the administrators are dealing with it they will sell it to the first group that can come up with the funds.

I'd suggest by the end of April latest they will have been bought out.
I bought about 20 360 Games 2 days ago, half of them dont work so if they refuse to clean/exchange them i will throw a fit haha.

Electronics Boutique bought out GAME and rebranded all the stores in the group to use the GAME branding so it’s actually EB that are responsible for the whole mess.

Are they still running that cheeky "we promise to buy back the games you purchase from us for min 75% of what you paid for it" 'offer'?

That one gave me a few giggles!

Is that even aloud? With their current trading position isn't that bordering on a con to make such a claim?

(seriously, are the administrators going to give you 75% of what you pay for the games to buy em back? - NAH!)

that deal was planned before all the admin stuff happened mate. Id know because thats what I put out a good few weeks ago on my shelves. It was extended from the official line which was 'if you buy a game between XX date and XX date and you bring the receipt back in you get at least 75% back as trade' to 'taking anything and getting 75% current price back on it...' Was probably just to get extra trade in so there was stuff to put out on the shelves.

spoke to my bro last night and he told me that he traded in some of the cheap wii games back into game for a decent profit. Best one he said was the he got £9 something for disaster day of crisis (only cost £2) - that was in the sheffield one. May be worth some peeps trading in some stuff :D

gift cards have been suspended as per usual administration rules in stores so if you are getting credit spend it immediately!! I wouldn't want any of you guys losing out on money.

That's a decent margin....

I suspect there's dosh to be made on Goldeneye as well. Goldeneye and Disaster are the two games that I've noticed have been repriced ridiculously high. Goldeneye was a seven quidder and now it's jumped to £17!!
