Octopath Traveller arrived today. It's a slightly bigger box than I expected, for some reason I expected one of their smaller ones.

I can see myself putting down Monster Hunter: World for a bit and sinking hours in to this, following the paths/arcs of all eight strands/characters.

The USA Ver. of My Nintendo has downloadable/printable covers of Octopath Traveler and Splatoon 2 OctoExpansion, if anyone's interested. They also have wallpapers not released on the EUR Ver. of My Nintendo. I'd not mind sharing it here but I think that's considered piracy.

If you have plenty of Silver coins on your EUR account, just change it to USA and use it towards it. Lots of cool stuff for 'free'.

The Switch version of Thimbleweed Park arrived this morning.

Cellophane removed and sticker re-applied, much neater.

And from a couple of weeks ago, Flashback and the standard release of Thimbleweed Park.

Does anyone have the physical version of Sonic Mania Plus? Wondering if it requires the DLC download or not?

I bought the physical version on Xbox for some reason, had it since FRIDAY and can't play the **** thing.

Blimey, SRG announce nine new physical releases for the Switch.

Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time
Mutant Mudds Collection
Worms W.M.D.
Knights of Pen and Paper
Knights of Pen and Paper II
Fairune Collection
Stereden Binary Stars
N++
The Adventure Pals.

This really is now the era of the pop-up 'boutique' publisher, isn't it?

Everyone's at it.

Notable though in that all of the above will be PAL physical releases.

Dimension Drive arrived today. A bit of a double dip for me, but the hybrid nature of the Switch is sort of lending itself to that phenomena.

Got mine today too. I've been buying an extra pack or two of trading cards with my orders, but for the last couple of releases, have not got all five different ones (anyone else feel that Super Rare Games should be giving customers the opportunity to buy a full set rather than the current way). This means I've got some doubles if anyone is up for trading?

I've got trading cards #3 and #4 as trades for Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (I need #5). Wondering of a thread for gaming trading cards is an idea?

I'm ok with the cards that I have received thus far. But I think, if there is the interest, it would certaintly be a great idea to have the Trading Card thread.

It is definitely a bit strange the way that SuperRare distribute the card packs though. If you purchase say just one extra pack with the game, it is highly likely that the two packs will have exactly the same distribution. So I always wait a short while and then just order some packs seperately (A cumbersome strategy, I know). I'm not sure that the cards are truly randomized. I think instead they are printed and shipped to SR in batches.

I have never received a signed card though. And when I received 'The Flame In The Flood', the extra card pack included was from 'Human Fall Flat'! I didn't mind though.

You are right though, there should be an opportunity to purchase a full set, it is afterall only five cards (even though they are offered as 'Trading' cards, it is not exactly a practical thing). Let's hope that they issue all the sets again some time in the future.

God Wars: The Complete Legend, arrived today. Another semi-interesting physical addition to the Switch catalogue. It is essentially a definitive edition of the PS4/VITA, God Wars: Future Past games. With the cart containing both God Wars: Future Past + the Legend of Yomi expansion dlc (which adds another 50 stages). It also offers some new playable characters + a few other system tweaks here and there.

Anyone who played GW-FP on the Vita or Ps4 will already know that this is very much a like it or loathe it game that itself probably belongs to a like it or loathe it genre.

Edit:

Owlboy surprisingly arrived today, too. Wasn't expecting such a massive box though. The contents of this release really don't seem to justify the amount of real-estate being used. Included a normal Switch case for comparison.

It will be hellish to collect all the switch games with so much "limited release" (Super Rare Games / Limited Run / Eastsoftasia/ Signature games ..etc)

Also it may be a lot of junk will hit the Switch (I already saw some crap at premium price hitting the market).

Yep, and most of it really is junk, too.

Believe it or not, I'm not really a fan of the concept of todays 'limited releases' either. (I'm as guilty as anyone) but, apart from all the other legitimate arguments, it also feels to me as though life will indeed be made unnecessarily difficult for collectors in the future to even consider 'entering' the hobby. That is my main concern. In that sense it does feel like we are effectively being encouraged to pull the ladder up behind us at the moment. And in the end, we will probably all lose.

@sturmwind - this is the perfect example

https://www.hardcoregamer.com/2018/08/2 ... s4/310666/

As far as I understood is almost exclusive to PAX .. and will be limited to 500 pcs or so ... absolutely bullshit, I will not support LRG anymore, just for this bullshit, was bad enough that they are releasing almost weekly, and I am waiting for ~ 20 releases from April to date , they did not delivered (almost) any game to me ... so, this is the final straw, lost my business forever :)

Is the so-called US special edition of Smash actually a boxed edition or simply a bundling of the game with the (rather dull-looking) pro-controller? I'm still very undecided about getting the PAL LE - I'm definitely up for giving this Smash a bash as the content is ridiculous, but it's been years since fighters hooked me in.

Your list of shooters, a couple of pages back, is still holding true, DQ187. But why did PA have to choose RXN-Raijin? Of all the other possible releases. What a missed opportunity that is (it's a nice steelbook though ;) )

I haven't been able to confirm this being a proper boxed edition yet either. Maybe they will release some shots of how exactly it will be packaged in the next few weeks. It would be a bit weird though if the Steelbook, in particular, was included seperately and loose, as it were. So I'm not sure how that will work. Maybe if the controller just has its own standard box then the steelbook and standard game will be packaged together with a special cardboard sleeve? And Best Buy are adding a pseudo silver coin to the bundle, too.

I went for the PAL LE and will pick up the new pro-controller, in time.

I'm not sure that those white grips were a good idea though, in the long run. Especially considering the nature of the game, I can see those white grips getting very sweaty and very yellow, very quickly.

Edit: Gamespot seem to imply that the cart will actually come packaged 'in' the Steelbook, so that makes sense, that would solve having the steelbook banging about loose. So it could indeed be a bundle that has been put together out of individual retail items.

Edit 2

Possible Smash liveried Switch system for EU?
