Japanese games

Postby Lionheart1 » Fri Jul 01, 2016 7:46 pm

I have recently started building up my collection of Japanese games for multiple systems Famicom, Super Famicom, N64, Gamecube, Mega Drive, Saturn Dreamcast, PC Engine, PS1/2. They have been cheaper and more readily available to get but as yet there is still no Japanese section to the database.

Is there going to be a Japanese section added anytime soon ?

Seconded... Most of my collection is Japanese... Specially as I have a PC engine rather than turbo grafix....

I'd like to push this motion as well, I just joined and I collect Super Famicom with a smattering of JP games elsewhere.

Same here, all my collection is japanese. I would love to help to make the database grow, I can create the one for dreamcast that is the system I collect.

Thanks

Japanese games in general can and will be added once the new database is live :) Until then, please have patience ;)

I've been a member for bare 3 years, but never really got into the site, as I discovered there was no Japanese games in the database, hench why I never really minded adding my collection here. Would be kickass with JAP-catalogue, as probably 50% of all my games are JAP releases :)

Yes, that will be something to aim for in the future and there has been a new design for the site in the pipeline for some time now that will allow for new additions. As a PAL region based collectors site, there will be many people looking for the PAL region games for systems that are not yet added as a priority too.

Do we have an ETA on this new database? I'm fairly new to the site but I've seen posts from years back that insist on waiting for the new database, with no actual sign of it in sight.

I wouldn't hang your hat on it arriving this decade.

I'm not familiar with anything coding etc related but why so long? Not questioning anyone's ability just curious as to what it involves.

Really off topic I apologise also

No, it's a perfectly reasonable question.
As you can see, it's something that's been on the cards for some years. For one reason or another, the site owners have not progressed at the speed we all thought they would. How or why, is only something they can answer. Hydr0x is your man.

Contra 1 has extra movie sequences in Japan, and Castlevania 3 has a special sound chip to give it better music on the Famicom version. I'd also recommend the infamous Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti as well....kicks ass!
