There's no way i'm going for a full set...my console of choice of that generation was always the 'cube. :)

My respect to anyone attempting/achieving it. I only pick up PS2 games as and when i see something that takes my fancy and i've still accumulated about 120 games to date....i can't see me ever having more than 250 or so.

Good luck to the brave souls who go for it! 8-)

feel the same way as you, but i only have about 30 PS2 games :P but about 110 Gamecube games ^^, and going for full Gamecube set, i think that is the easiest to get full set off from that era

Yeah local versions of games are ridiculous. I saw a Buzz: Brain of Switzerland the other day and thought of buying it just because its relatively small target audience.

How about that number being complete and utter nonsense? We have our own database and aside from a few oversights (likely less than 10 games) our number is accurate. 3764 local variants within Europe? Yeah, maybe, altough I wouldn't be surprised if there's actually more than that. 3764 games? Bullshit.

could be that they count stuff like a game with norwegian text on the back as one game, the one with english as another, even if it is the same game, if understand what i mean.

I never said it was 3764 unique games 8-)

I too think that that number is the amount of S(L)(C)ES codes that have been issued. Since any regional version of Buzz, Singstar, etc. have their own S(L)(C)ES code that number of 3764 most probably includes all variants...

Re: Ps2 Full Set

Postby The Saint » Sun Jan 22, 2012 9:49 pm

Today I decided to go for a full set, but I am starting from a relatively small position, 27 as of 11AM.

By 5pm I added another 35, which cost me in total about £21.50 This was only going to Game, Gamestation and CEX. I will begin to scour Charity Shops in the coming days.

Of course, I will have to keep to a budget, (I am going to allow £100 on retro per calendar month from Feb 2012) but I will keep you posted on how I am doing as I go, as I might decide to bail out if it gets too prohibitive or expensive.

Right now is an excellent time to start, as prices are rock bottom! I may go for a full PS1 set as well, but I started getting into retro for getting the games I love, not for collecting whole sets.

If anyone has any tips/hints or suggestions that may aid me in my quest, then please feel free to add it on here or PM me. Traditionally I have always bought either in-store cheap (at places as named above), or on Ebay (which can be expensive and over inflated).

I am quite new on here but I have got my stats fairly correct and up to date, so if anyone is selling any PS2 games or thinking about donating them to charidee, then please do PM me and I will offer cash. Unsure about trading right now, but if anything does come available, I will post it in the relevant section on the message board.

Best of luck.
And: Are you sure you want 100 BDFL Manager, 100 Singstars, 100 Buzz', 100 Poker Tours, 100 FIFAs, NHLs, and whatnot taking up space in your room? Just askin'. I'm at 103 PS2 games (not all in my stats yet) and to think that theres 2200 more out there, I'm like  and start with the easier stuff (full Saturn set, for example).

That is a good point, today I managed to pick up (of the 35) 8 Fifa Games, 6 Pro Evo games, 2x Total Club Manager games - that is nearly 50% of the haul!!!

I did see all the different club games, singstar etc, so I think what I will do is go through it via a series of checkpoints at every 100 games or so, as if it gets too silly then may just end up swapping ones for others that I want, or bailing completely.

Would be nice to get to 1000, as I guess over time the actual "amount" of games that exist for PS2 will become more fixed than some of the figures being bandied about at the moment.

I may go for the PS1 as well, or the Atari 7800, as I am a way into this at the moment. It all depends on the cash and cost aspect!
