Now THOSE are games :D . I reckon Nintendo should commision exclusive sequels for the NX to get a rise out of sales...

I think The Coven was one that I almost managed to buy a few years back before the ebay seller apparently "lost" it along with three other saucy 3DO titles

Yeah, those 3DO Magazines certinaly did only have 15 issues as far as I know. All came with a demo I think?

Yes, they all had a demo disc, but towards the end, the demo discs were repeats of ones that had been cover mounted in earlier issues. By issue 11, the magazine had reduced to branding the PS2 as a less powerful console and apologising for the lack of new releases. It was sadly clear at this stage that the 3DO was failing, but it's legacy has left us with some great games and franchises such as Need for Speed

Thanks for the info! I actually didn't know why a few of my long box games had UK version stickers on the spine, as I figured all UK copies must be US imports.

My 3DO games are a tatty mix of longbox, jewel case, and double CD case. Which although looks interesting, is slightly untidy and unsightly. I have to keep the longbox games on a separate shelf.

I have a bunch of gun games, most part of the Gunslinger collection. But no light gun. Lol.

RE: Dragon Lore

Although I personally believe that the North American long-box version with ELSPA stickers and European publisher Mindscape's own barcode over the original USA one can be included in the PAL set, I have now added the German variant to my collection.
No doubting as to whether this game was released officially in PAL regions with this beauty:

Just like the German Panzer General, this German double jewel case offering has no printed back case insert, just the stickers on the back of the case. The Mindscape Bar-Code on the ELSPA long-box and German double jewel case versions are slightly different.

This game looks set to be the rarest PAL 3DO game in my opinion, hardly any information on it at all, I was lucky to get this on eBay.de last year!

I'm inclined to agree - I don't believe that it was on collector's radars for many years as a PAL release until only a few years ago.

All I could find about this was a couple of resource sites, both oddly enough were German sites.

The manual for this is also very thick and it doesn't not fit the case, but not because of the thickness but because of the length of it. It looks like it's been cut too long for the case, it is a very tight fit but when closing the case there's no room for the case to close into, it just hits the manual.

I'm wondering if they pulled the plug on this because of a manual cutting error, or I just have a slightly miscue manual?

I'm not sure as the manual for my game is inside the case. I got my copy from eBay Germany in 2015 and whilst I've not opened it, you can see from the pics below that the game had a factory Y fold seal from new - I can shake lightly to feel manual move within the case slightly. We know there are some PAL printed case inserts/manuals to evidence European releases for Dragon Lore, Panzer General and Waialae Country Club and all three of these have emerged from Germany, so I guess its not unreasonable to consider that Cyberia was another title that was only released in Germany in some limited capacity (despite it's multi-European languages on the rear of the case insert)?

That's odd then, I wonder if either my manual has been miscut or the case has been swapped out at some point and is slightly different inside.

I agree with the Germany theory, it seems it only did get a German release by the looks of it, it would certainly make sense.

I love the 3do. I have boxed FZ-1, FZ-10 and a Goldstar one too.

The rarest game I have is :-

I have never seen this on sale anywhere, at least not in the UK. Picked it up from ebay for £20.

@Tinsair/Gunstarhero

Any chance you guys could come up with a proper EU/PAL database for the site before we convert everything to the new db format?

I can certainly help, I think I have most of my 3DO game information on my computer anyway for the games I have, so shouldn't be too hard!

I can send you all the information I have from my database. The 3DO is a toughie to track as there are many games which were released in Europe that just had an ELSPA sticker slapped on the North American versions. Many collectors wont include these as part of a PAL set as they don't have PAL printed case inserts with the European age ratings included or reference to the fact they are compatible with PAL systems. There are a couple of games that were pack-in titles here in the UK where we just got the North American versions, but hopefully I can help as I've saved pics of the console boxes to show these were bona fide pack-ins with PAL consoles.

I'll liaise with you via Twitter :)

As far as I am aware, this was never released in PAL territories (even with ELSPA stickers slapped on the original box). It was a North American title and was released in a larger cardboard packaged box. One of several adult titles that the 3DO saw released. Even in just it's jewel case as you have pictured, this is a desirable title I'd suggest simply by nature of it's content (not because it's any good, I hasten to add, just a historical perspective as it was the sort of game that utilised a new form of media to show something different and would highly likely not be released officially now)

Thanks for answer. But if you check NTSC jewel cases and discs, this looks different. It has different graphics on disc itself, same as jewel case is different. I will also add pic of back side of jewel case, which has just screens from a game (no text). It looks somehow loose, so I guess it used to be part of some bundle, maybe console add-on or something like that. But I cant prove anything, as I didnt find any similar version on google.

There is no ELSPA sticker, or any other price sticker. Unfortunatelly instructions are missing too, so its hard to tell, from where this game came from. Paper in jewel case seems genuine same as CD. Its hard to believe for me, that this was pirate game in accordance with quality of disc.

So my question continues, does anyone know something about this version of Plumbers?

Interesting to note that the games name is wrongly spelt around the spindle on the non-picture side of the disc. The picture side of the disc has no codes or reference of text that I can see. I own 125 different 3DO games and I've just checked every single one. All have some text. Unfortunately (!), Plumbers Don't Wear Ties is one I don't have (although it's been on my radar for some time  ), and you've already compared your game to the North American version for reference :|

Image

It's significantly different isn't it? As the spelling is wrong around the spindle and there is no text on the case front or back insert or disc, this doesn't help us in identifying yours as a bone-fide version, sadly. Be good to know this was released somewhere other than North America, but every example I can offer thus far of NTSC games released in other territories have the aforementioned text on the disc or at least something for the case inserts other than pictures.

My copy of Night Trap is a long box with a sticker on the side stating it is an official uk release.

It has a long manual and no cd case - the cd's are fixed into the tray.
