Heh, I wasn't showing off, honest - it just happened to be in my "awkwardly shaped games" photo! I've had that for a few years now - in the past, I only knew of one other collector who had one (and I'm fairly sure we got them from the same ebay seller :/) but more seem to be turning up - maybe because of the +£400 auction?

Yes, it does - one of those irksome squashy plastic ones. Also Sword of Sodan and Zany Golf*.

Hmm wonder if Populous & Sword of Sodan also have the more standard versions of the cases, I know I've seen Zany Golf in available in both styles.

I am thinking of maybe going for a complete collection seeing as I have some of the very rare titles already (Mega Man, Seperation Anxiety, Justice League, X-Men 2, Alien Soldier etc) hopefulIy it wont be too bad finishing the set.
I currently have 136 games so I am a long way off yet.

I have a question about Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs. People have been saying on forums that only 2 PAL copies of this game exist. Is that true? if so it will be so frustrating as not everyone who is working on a full Mega Drive collection will ever be able to complete it. Imagine having every game and knowing there is just one you will never own.

Good stuff :). There's 3 copies as far as I know, and I'm sure more will surface :).

As for those Lakers Vs Celtics copies, I'm starting to wonder if they are ex-rental ones or something. It doesn't seem right how obscure they are for an EA game...

Then again I could be making up excuses for not owning a boxed copy!

Hey there Happyguy, be sure also to search worldwide for Megadrive bargains, some of the rarer games on the database often show up on Aussie ebay, and that's not just the AU exclusives you'll be needing either ;)

This is something that Ashley [Escort] and I have discussed too. This could explain why there are so many carts out there but why boxed with instructions is so incredibly scarce.

Can anybody tell me how many Japanese Sunsoft games were released in the small cases like Batman and Super Fantasy Zone?

Thanks

It is still down as VR in the datbase though!

I know of one other person outside the 3 who has one, so 4 in total.

I've seen a few of the early EA titles in standard cases but I personally think people just swapped around the case's.

I'm really gonna pull my finger out in the next few weeks and get this set down to L vs C! Not including that damn game, I now need 11 games (as long as the few that are in the post get home OK!) and only one of those is what I would class as hard to find. I need a few of the Oz sports titles too but TBH I'm not too arsed about that, same with Thunder Force 3, I acknowledge that there is a PAL release of it but since I'm not overly fussed about manuals it's not very high on my to buy list :). Wish me luck :P

Good luck! Those Oz sports title seem quite common down here, so even if you checked back in 5 years time you'll probably have no problem locating them.

Anyone seen this double pack before, is it as rare as he says it is?

Cheers mate, yeah im in no rush to get them but I'll probably pick thrm up eventually just for completion sake! That double pack is quite hard to find but value wise I always pay $20 for them off the guy who picks mine up for me, they're not really worth more than that! Got one on its way to me as part of a trade actually :)

Just bought Sword of Sodan off eBay with a fake front cover. Looks like someone just printed there own cover and stuck it in a standard EA case.

As long as the games I have in the post get home OK, I am now down to 4 games needed, 3 of which are in my watch list, CURSE YOU LAKERS VS CELTICS

I have a cart only copy of that though, so by the end of next week I shall hopefully be the proud owner of a full PAL MD set minus a box :)
