Sweet, I appreciate it! Although they probably will be the more pricey titles and will come further down the line, it never hurts keeping an eye out for them in the meantime.

I bought a Mega CD & Megadrive (both boxed) bundle with 19 games over xmas, and only just got round to reselling all the stuff I didnt need.
So basically I ended up getting this lot for around £50.

Sonic CD
Spiderman vs Kingpin
Star Wars Rebal Assualt
Shinning Force CD
Shinning in the Darkness
Shinning Force II
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star III
Phantasy Star IV
Sword of Vamillon
Dune II
X-MEN
Dungeons & Dragons

Funny thing is, I didnt even know Shinning Force II & CD was in the bundle as it wasnt in the auctions picture. I only found the games when I unboxed the Mega CD & Megadrive LOL

I'd like to hear your opinion on this matter. I know Markus' point of view on this, but not the reason(s).

Would you add this list to the goal of reaching a full European PAL set of Mega Drive games and most importantly, why?
As I don't have too much ties with the MD, I can't form an opinion myself. As for the SMS, I consider Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego not to be part of the full set even though it was originally sold in Europa as an NTSC imported game.

Games:

Double Dragon
Hardball
Hardball III
Mike Ditka Power Football
Onslaught
Star Control
Summer Challenge
Super Off Road
Test Drive II
Turrican
Universal Soldier
WarpSpeed

Thanks guys!

Yes to all.

Because

A) They were sold at retail in the UK by main shopping retailers such as WH Smith (i.e. not just independent games shops) but, more significantly.............

B) It clearly says for use with the Sega Genesis AND Mega Drive on the packaging and game carts.

I don't know what Markus' opinion is, but there is no argument in my book for what it is worth. A full PAL set would need to include these games.

He includes them, but then according to your argument, Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego should also be in the SMS PAL list? It follows both your rules, yet I don't see it in anyone's list. I own it, but there is no way you can tell whether or not it was in fact a copy sold here in Europe or in the States...

Thanks for the arguments, still undecided until I hear some more though ;)

The European versions of the cardboard box games have a sticker on the front stating the European languages the manual and game are in, the NTSC releases don't have this. Only the copies with the stickers should be classed as Euro copies in my opinion, although I know for a fact that the UK got both styles, the American language not being an issue here :)

Ow ok, but then we're back to Sonic UPC style... I don't collect stickers, I collect games. I'm leaning towards adding them to the list albeit without the stickers though. As long as the content counts as the European.

I've been reading this thread with great interest as I'm a Mega Drive collector myself, but no where near the capacity that you guys are (in that I've no where a many games in my collection, although I love the MD to bits). I'm actually thinking of selling my Saturn and the games I have for it as I hardly ever play the thing and would rather concentrate on the MD.

I've a question though; the Master System Converter II, was that an Australian exclusive? I've only ever seen it for same once or twice on eBay - always at huge cost - and each time it's said it came from Australia. I would have thought it would have been released in the US but I've never seen a US version, which seems strange.

Master System Converter II was certainly sold over here in the UK, but not sure about the US market. I'm fairly sure I've seen the first one sold over there though. From what I've seen on eBay, it's a similar situation to your's as the Converter II always seems to command a bit of a premium over the first one especially if complete with spacer and more so if boxed.

Wouldn't mind one, but I'd be more tempted just to get a mk1 Master System and save some money :)

Good point. I actually bought a cheap Mk1 converter and chopped the back off it so it fits on my MD1. Works perfectly. :D

Just added my latest acquisitions to my RC MD collection and have past the 100 mark and the 20% mark.

Hell of a long way still to go but feels pretty good.

Now come on payday.

You know I just recently acquired a Megadrive... a gift from a friend who heard I collect video games. That was some two weeks ago and now my collection is up to over 50 games, and I already have two very rares. A Master System Converter is on its way to sit on my Model 1, I currently play my games on the Model 2 since the RF output on the model 1 is very snowy... yeah I don't have AV cables for neither of them.

Megadrive just has something special about it... something that grabbed my attention, which the SNES has failed to accomplish.
Shall I opt for the full set? I already have 10% of all the games lol... we'll see.

I know what you mean. I do collect NES and SNES games too, and love them both.
But I've got proper nostalgia love the MD.

50 games in 2 weeks is pretty good going.
If you keep on at that rate you should have the whole set in 22 weeks.

Never had a Megadrive. In fact at the time I was a kid I didn't even know about it. I wasn't allowed any console anyways, played SNES, N64, PS1 and Gameboy at friends houses. But the Megadrive just has a certain appeal to me.

Well a good bunch I got via an auction, more than 40 MD games and some 32x. The lady selling it was baffled anyone even wanted that stuff. Were the games of her ex lol. Ain't complaining, Mutant League Hockey and Art of Fighting, go me 8-)
