A few suggestions

Postby Sato » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:41 pm

A few ideas I suddenly thought of:

1: Although I highly doubt PC games will ever make it onto the database due to how many there are, maybe there could be like a feature where if you have an old PC game, you can add it to your collection, but not to the database. So say if I had an old PC game, I could manually add it's title, publisher/developer, year, box art, etc.

2: An option to add a certain region and version of a game. Like, I now own the platinum version of final fantasy 7 on PSOne, but there isn't any option to show that it's the platinum version.

And for region, just the option to select things like if it's Pal A or Pal B, what country, etc.

If these are annoying features to have then that's understandable, just a few things that would be cool.

Don't assume things ;) PC Games will definitely make it into the database. It's meant to be a full database of all games ever, which obviously includes the PC.

This is already in the works and will be one of the next major updates :)

But there's so many PC games, wouldn't that be insanely difficult to add them?

And I'm glad that that's an upcoming feature :D! Any estimate on when it will be implemented?

Well, we'll start systematically in the DOS era and work our way up. Getting all retail games in is actually not THAT daunting, it's the downloadable freeware and similar things which will drive people crazy :p

Not really no, development is currently picking up speed again but we have to complete other things first.

Ok then. Good to know it's in the works.

By the way, how do you guys add things to the database? Do you research each game individually or do you add it once someone with the game gives you the details?

We research system by system, having dedicated editors for every system which then fill in details for all the games on that platform.
