What else have you bought this week?

Postby TombRaiderKuchen » Thu Mar 22, 2012 3:25 pm

We have threads that cover all of our latest gaming purchases, so how about a thread to show off our non-gaming purchases?

So, what else have you all bought this week? :)

In my latest charity shop raid, I found a few bits. Got the Furby, the toy Pumbaa and the book in a couple of charity shops.
I like to collect Middle-Earth/Tolkien stuff so I'm happy I found a copy of The Silmarillion that matches the Trilogy book set that I have.
And I got my new iPhone cover from Ebay which I absolutely love :D

My gf has the same iPhone cover :) Sometimes in public, I pretend to play Super Mario Land 1 on it, loudly humming the tune. Earns a lot of confused looks

Those phone cases are annoying as hell on ebay, there has over 1000+ listed and they just swamp by trawling of gameboy listings. I have to search "gameboy -case" all the time now

Anyway, i bought a new poster a few days ago and it came today, cant be bothered to take a picture so here is a link to it.

Looks fantastic, need to get a frame for it when i come back from university during Easter.

A charity shop near me is closing down and they were selling everything to the bear walls so I managed to get this mirror :D Image

Its a soda maker! Cost a bit too much, way too flimsy, but does the job very well and produces nice fizzy beverages. The first time tough, it exploded all over my carpet. Twice. Once because the fizzing isn't visible until you unscrew the bottle, and I fizzizzled like madman wondering when the hell the fizzizzlizzles show up. Second time while adding the syrup, it didn't react too well to the fizzizzlizzizzling deathbrew. My carpet probably has never and will never be as clean as after that accident.

Just bought a new laptop with money in fairness i didnt have...

Was walking past CeX and saw this laptop id been looking at getting from the Dell Site all week, it costs like £1400/1500 quid though and i dont have anywhere near that...

Looked at it closer and not only was it what i wanted but it was an upgraded version which costs all of £1799...
Checked the price. 410 pound... Next to it, they have the previous one in the series. 420 Pound.
Thinking it was a mistake i went in and asked them to check the pricing...
Completely correct...

I couldnt resist.
410 pound for a Laptop with a Quad Core Intel i7 core (Which costs 200 quid almost ATM), 6GB RAM, 3D Capability, A Subwoofer as well as speakers (Theres only 2 laptops made commercially with a Subwoofer lmao), 750GB HDD (Which costs 150ish now due to shortages) and a GFX Card which Nvidia has only just brought out last month which sells for 320 quid.

PLUS, it has Windows 7OS, which is another 100 odd quid.

Im well chuffed, though i wont be eating for the rest of the month :'(

Ordered the ultra cheap mobile phone Nokia 100 (I only need a phone for calls and the occasional text message), a Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player and Xears Experience XE200PRO headphones.

got this one today, have Jean Grey from before, and hoping to get Rouge soon, and all the others, but not sure how many different there are in this series, only know that they are limited to 5000 of each figure, and all are numbered

PS3? ;)

Looks like a good set though, only have the first 3 myself - third I got free with the PS3 as I wouldn't have bought it with money  Liked the Wolverine Origins one though and First Class looked good too though I haven't had the chance to see the latter yet.

i don't realy like the PS3 to small controllers in my opinion, xbox360 controllers is exactly the right size for my hands :P
but Blu-ray players arent that expensive anymore anyway.

got this set because i love Marvel in general, and mostly X-Men, and also it was at a decent price (paid about 39£ for it), looking forward to the next Origin movie, and are planning to watch Avengers 3D in the cinema tomorrow on the world premier

Yeah, PS3 controllers can be an acquired taste, but then there's the blu ray/media remote ;) Honestly though, PS3's rated by many as one of the best players still and a great media hub besides - constant updates, HD 3D ready and so forth. I think it's just some of the higher audio profiles it can't quite handle. I know of some people that barely use the system for gaming at all, just media

But yeah, haven't been going to the cinema much recently hence missing First Class but hopefully rectify that soon. Avengers looks amazing and the reviews seem to back that up thankfully. Still disappointed Ed Norton didn't carry on in his Banner role but I'll probably forget about it after the first 5 minutes :)

if i get a PS3 for cheap i will buy one, but i don't think that will be happening anytime soon :P

i have seen so many different Bruce Banner characters during the last 20years, so i'm not that stuck on him playing that role like some people are, but are really looking forward to see it, will be the first 3D movie for me, so quite excited, only 3D i have seen before was in a ghost house  so atleast i know that i can see 3D, i know some people can't see it
