Ninty's Movie Watch Thread

Postby Nintastic » Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:13 pm

A thread to promote or moan about a film you've just recently watched,

For me today was Cowboys & Aliens 7/10

Harrison Ford wearing a hat will always be Indianna Jones to me and NOT a cowboy. Enjoyable yarn but don't expect to much though Olivia Wilde gets a 11/10 from me ;)

Keep having double feature DVD nights lately...last night was Austin Powers followed by Billy Madison as I was up for a bit of simplistic comedy and hadn't watched either in an age :)

The former has aged somewhat probably due to the overuse of certain phrases but it still has its moments - Dr Evil issues with chairs stand out for example

If you like Adam Sandler stuff, Billy Madison's pretty decent. Just wish I had the unedited version as mine's missing a few scenes from the version I see on TV every now and again. Latest BD version I've noticed on Amazon's now a 12 instead of PG like my DVD copy so hopefully that'll have the deleted scenes :)

Last Thursday I decided to have an afternoon watching some Robert Downey Jr. (ooft!) films after a boring morning of lectures at Uni. I happily sat and watched Sherlock Holmes then proceeded to watch Iron Man :)

I recommend Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's a good piece of action orientated, satirical comedy. Never got much of audience though. Im guessing that's because people saw Val Kilmer was in it, and dismissed it

On a slightly different tangent, how about Asian movies. Some of you might have heard of Oldboy, it's a fantastic Korean film if not a bit odd. It was part of a Trilogy of films by the same director, all worth a watch if you've got time.

If you like Korean films then i recomend Memories of Murder. It is one of the best Korean films ever made.

Been watching Lord of the Rings again! In particular, I watched disc 2 of the Fellowship of the Ring the other night :D I have the extended edition box set with all the extras. Been watching them too! Currently having a total "I want to read the books, watch the films and play the C64/ZX Spectrum games" moment. Love it ♥

If anyone likes Japanese movies I suggest the Battle Royale & Death Note trilogies, that's if you don't mind reading the subtitles ;)

I have the limited edition on DvD boxset of Battle Royale. I got it for about 16 quid, now it goes for something like 60 to 80. Crazy but i can understand why, as it's a very good set.
