RetroCollect FM - Retro Gaming Podcast - Issue 03: Tekken

RetroCollect-FM-Issue-03-TekkenPut 'em up - it's time to fight with the RetroCollect FM Podcast! In our usual fashion the team decided to sit down and duke it out over the history of the Iron Fist Tournament - discussing the highs and lows of the Tekken franchise, the greatest combatants, and its more bizarre bowling offerings.

Although Tekken's arrival in the gaming world was much later than the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, Kazuya and company have fought their way to the top of fighting game fan's list thanks to its intuitive combat system, and iconic characters. Now spanning countless video games, manga and even live action movie adaptations, there was more than enough to battle out between our hosts Chris, Tom and Karl.

Be sure to tune in to this fierce RetroCollect FM Podcast and look forward to rekindling your love for Namco's fighting series! And as usual, be sure to throw your fists up in the air listening to our brand new podcast intro theme put together by the legendary chiptune artist Shirobon.

Looking forward to listening to this when I get home. The Tekken series has been my favourite 1-on-1 franchise to date and am interested in hearing others' opinions on the merits (and demerits) of each. For me, Tekken 3 presented the biggest jump in terms of general polish (obviously based on the tech platform available at that time). Yet, although I'm rather partial to a bit of Tekken bowling, in terms of mini-games and side quests, Tekken 6 added IMO the best and very much needed depth and dimension to what could've been a tiring formula.

I never really got into the Tekken 6 mini game sadly, I still have the game so maybe I should go back to it? But I play a fair bit of Tekken Tag 2 these days....I would kill for a Vita Tekken Tag 2 :(
