ZX Spectrum Platformer 'Slightly Magic' Gets Kickstarter Update

Slightly-Magic-8-Bit-Legacy-KickstarterIn 1991 Colin Jones published his addictive platformer Slightly Magic through British powerhouse Codemasters - a title which quickly became a frequent entry in lists of the greatest ZX Spectrum games. Twenty two years later, Jones has decided to build upon the foundations of his work by calling upon Kickstarter to help fund Slightly Magic 8-Bit Legacy Edition.

This newly launched crowd funded project is not wanting to give the two decade old release a new lick of paint, but instead resolve the limitations the ZX Spectrum which Jones felt held back his work. This means that all the visuals and gameplay will remain intact, while the likes of sprite flickering, overlapping colours and limited channel soundtrack will be addressed.

Jones is also hoping to add a few new additions in to the mix, with the most notable one enlisting the game's original composer - Allister Brimble - to provide a remastered soundtrack.

The Kickstarter project is looking to raise £7,000 over the next month, with plenty of reward tiers on offer for those interested.

At last, a Kickstarter worth supporting where they're not asking stupid money for a physical copy. Lord only knows why so many think it's worth $30 just to dump the game onto a disc.
