It's safe to say that Sega's new business model is to regain the market share by delving into their once powerful past. The lastest reimagining to sit beside the updated ports and remakes such as Nights Into Dreams and Jet Set Radio is the thirty year old arcade classic space shooter Zaxxon. The newly titled Zaxxon Escape is coming soon to iPhone, iPad, and Google Play devices.
This updated telling of Zaxxon, however, seems to step away from the iconic isometric style gameplay it once pioneered. Going by the screenshots Sega has uploaded and the short snippet of action in their teaser trailer, the game looks set to feature a viewpoint and gameplay similar to that of their 32X titles Star Wars Arcade and the elusive Darxide.
Regardless we're pleased to see Sega rekindle one of their flagship titles that was once an key attribute to any arcade, ported to over 15 different home computers and even made into a Milton Bradley board game. No release date has been set for this iOS and Android title though, so stay tuned.
