What Should Have Been: The Head Mounted Nintendo Virtual Boy

Head-Mounted-Nintendo-Virtual-BoyThe most common gripe with the Nintendo Virtual Boy is its sheer awkwardness in the form department. With hunched backs and uncomfortable positions aside, one unhappy retro gamer decided to take matters into his own hands. Sculpted from parts of vintage Virtual Reality hardware, a head mounted Virtual Boy was finally born.

Without diving into the deep end of which position is most comfortable to absorb yourself in Monochromatic 3D, we've often found ourselves lying on our backs while resting the Virtual Boy on our chest. However we would much rather prefer a head mounted device which should have been Nintendo's plan from day one.

Planet Virtual Boy user Cyberdyne's Head Mounted Virtual Boy was crafted together with the suriviving parts of a Forte VFX-1 Headgear Virtual Reality System. Being one of the earlier ventures into virtual reality, the VFX-1 Headgear was far from a commercial success deeming itself more scarce than the Virtual Boy. With the two devices combined, it almost makes you wonder if the Virtual Boy would have taken off.

Never thought of lying on my back... It's always been waiting until it's dark, turning all the lights out and closing the curtains, then sitting at the desk for ten minutes at most. Going to try it on my back later!
