Updated Port Of Sega's 'Sonic The Hedgehog' Heading To Android & iOS Devices Later This Month

Updated-Port-Of-Sonic-The-Hedgehog-Heading-To-Android-iOS-Devices-Later-This-MonthYet another port of the Sonic The Hedgehog is heading your way, however, this time round this is one you want to keep your eye on. After successfully (and impressively) porting Sonic CD to touchscreen devices, Sega have once again called upon Christian Whitehead to give this timeless Mega Drive classic the port it deserves.

"But Sonic The Hedgehog is already on iOS and has been for years!" I hear you cry. Well, you're not wrong there, although the one you're referring to is nothing more than an emulated version of the game in a glossy wrapper. Like the Sonic CD port, this all new updated version of Sonic The Hedgehog will be built from the ground up, instead of relying on emulation.

Why is this important? Similar to the Sonic CD port, this version will adapt to the size of your device's screen, effectively granting you a widescreen version of Sonic's first outing. If that wasn't enough, it has been suggested that this upcoming touchscreen version is also due to receive a never seen before Time Attack mode as well as a remastered soundtrack.

A video of this soon to be released port has recently surfaced online, however, it is worth noting that is an early development version shown currently missing the background music.

Our fingers are crossed in the hope that Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is also due for a similar update in the near future.
