Upcoming Sega Dreamcast Kickstarter RPG 'Elysian Shadows' Closes In On Required Funding

Sega-Dreamcast-RPG-on-Kickstarter-Elysian-ShadowsWho can say no to a brand new retro-inspired adventure? If you're yet to catch the news, a team of retro gaming fanatics have bunched together with the aim of producing a brand new RPG known as Elysian Shadows, not only for modern consoles, but also the fabled Sega Dreamcast.

Featuring a stunning combination of pixel art, 3D environments and dynamic lighting, Elysian Shadows looks set to build upon the foundations of 16-bit RPGs with an enhanced atmospheric experience. Inspired by the likes of Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana, this upcoming Sega Dreamcast release aims to recapture that childhood feeling spent with such adventures, which is somewhat lacking today.

The team behind this retro RPG are currently seeking $150,000 via Kickstarter to get the job done. At this point in time the Elysian Shadows team have surpassed the $100,000 mark, with ten days left to reach the desired amount.

For a $49 pledge, retro gamers will be able to secure their copy of the game on the Sega Dreamcast - expected to be released during December 2015. This upcoming homebrew release will no doubt be desirable for more reasons than one, as Elysian Shadows is set to be published by Watermelon - the artistic team behind the Mega Drive adventure Pier Solar.

I dunno. I HATE that super drawn back camera angle on games and the text looks so small. The Dreamcast is capable of so much more than this. I get what they're going for but aesthetically I'm just not feeling it.

If this were on the Saturn I would be all over it but agree with above poster about Dreamcast.
