Upcoming Nintendo NES Homebrew 'The Legends Of Owlia' Trailer & Downloadable Demo Released

The-Legends-Of-Owlia-Nintendo-NES-HomebrewOriginally announced back in 2013, The Legends of Owlia has been in development for quite some time, but the long wait is now proving its worth. Gradual Games have just released a new trailer for their upcoming Nintendo NES homebrew adventure and it sure is showing promise. Heavily drawing inspiration from The Legend of Zelda, fans of the 8-bit system need look no further for what could soon become the must have NES release of the decade.

Taking control of Adlanniel and her sidekick owl, The Legends of Owlia features the much loved top-down perspective from countless action RPGs of the late 80s. Instead of gifting you with a sword and shield to progress, the combat system here sees you thrusting out your owl into battle, much like the yo-yo in Startropics. This is further extended through various abilities and items, for example, the ability to have your companion throw out bombs as they return back to their shoulder perch. Needless to say the many features here are pushing this Nintendo NES homebrew way beyond the majority of releases that precede it - including Gradual Games' very own Nomolos Storming the Catsle.

Although we're yet to see a release date confirmed, the latest trailer for The Legends of Owlia will leave plenty of retro gamers desperate for more. The game will most likely be released on cartridge through homebrew publishers Infinite Lives. Until then though, Gradual Games have released a downloadable demo ROM of the game which can be enjoyed either through an emulator or on the original hardware with an Everdrive N8.
