Unreleased Super Nintendo Prototype 'Targa' ROM Released

Targa-SNES-Prototype-ROM-Released-OnlineTowards the back-end of 2014 Super Nintendo gamers were given their chance to sample Manfred Trenz's spiritual successor to Turrican. Although seeing release in Japan under the name Rendering Ranger R2, the localised equivalent known as Targa remained an unreleased obscurity. With a bunch of well known prototype collectors securing the title, the game has now since seen a reproduction cartridge release and as of today the game's ROM has surfaced online.

While we're yet to confirm whether or not this prototype holds any differences over the Japanese retail release, the curious amongst us who missed out on the reproduction run can finally sample the game for themselves. With the run and gun action that made a name for itself in the late 80s with Turrican, it's no surprise that Rendering Ranger R2 commands crazy prices - something the release of Targa's ROM may potentially shoot down.

To get your hands on the prototype ROM of Targa for the Super Nintendo, head on over to the NintendoAge forums to find out more and get the all important download link. The game's ready to go in either your emulator of choice, or a Super Everdrive flash cartridge.
