Unreleased Super Nintendo game Firearm surfaces online

Unreleased-Super-Nintendo-FirearmAnother unreleased Super Nintendo ROM has quietly made its way online; Firearm. An unfinished comic book game based upon the comic series of the same name from Malibu Comics in 1993, which was originally set for release on the Sega Mega Drive too.

Earlier this month the Firearm ROM appeared on the SnesOrama messageboards, completely flying under the radar and not getting the usual attention you'd expect from unreleased code. Luckily Snes Central picked up the news after being sent a link via a reader and were able to document what lies within the game.

As you would expect from an almost unheard of and unreleased title, very little of the game remains playable. However (at a minimum) two playable levels and a half finished intro animation remain to be enjoyed. More than enough for the curious amongst us to go ROM hunting with.

Snes Central already began the hunt which oddly enough turned up code from the Super Nintendo game Zombies Ate My Neighbours. Also found within were a few other snippets such as the programmers name.

The ROM of the unfinished Firearm can now be downloaded and is currently being hosted at Snes Central.

Incomplete is right, although I like the little comic book-esque panel that appears when you're reloading.

Weird to think how many games were made based on Malibu comics (Prime, Dinosaurs for Hire, Ex-Mutants)- it shouldn't be surprising, as they had their own video game development studio, but still...
