While the most memorable version of Dragon's Lair is situated in the arcades, many game developers attempted to bring the Laserdisc hit over to the consoles. Needless to say, the majority of these attempts offered very little in comparison to the coin-op. Negativity aside, the unreleased Mega Drive adaptation of the 1983 classic has been dumped.
MrMark0673 and Beaglepuss of the NintendoAge messageboard recently posted up details regarding their 'Summer of Protos'. Offering the community an unforgettable summer of gaming, the guys plan to release into the wild ROM dumps of various prototypes they have gathered over the years. With the unfinished Nintendo NES game Arcadia IV being their first release, Dragon's Lair is up next.
The unreleased Sega Mega Drive / Genesis version of Dragon's Lair is a direct port of the Super Nintendo version. From what we can gather, the game remains almost identical apart from a few graphical differences from the Super Nintendo version. The ROM dumpers have stated that the prototype contains a fully finished version of the game, playable from start to finish.
