Unreleased 'Magician Lord 2' Neo Geo Pocket Color Prototype Discovered & Documented

Unreleased-Magician-Lord-2-Neo-Geo-Pocket-Color-Prototype-Discovered-DocumentedWith such a small library of games available to the Neo Geo Pocket, the discovery of any unfinished or unreleased title for SNK's handheld is without a doubt a blessing. A sample cartridge of Magician Lord 2 for the NGPC has been found, showcasing what could have been the definitive side scroller for the fabled handheld.

The French website Gamekult is the lucky new owner of Magician Lord 2, one who has not been shy in displaying what the unfinished title by ADK would have offered. While the game currently features no audio (or at least the video doesn't) and it is largely unfinished, there is still plenty to marvel at - especially where the Neo Geo Pocket's capabilities are concerned and what this title can offer.

Unfortunately though, Gamekult has not made it clear whether or not it has preserved the game's code in a playable ROM file, nor have they stated they will be doing so for a public release. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed though that we'll be able to trial Magican Lord 2 on our Neo Geo Pocket sometime in the near future.

Until then, take a look at the game in action.

I remember back in 2000-ish, and reading about all the upcoming NGPC games - most of which never appeared. Don't remember this one mentioned (great as it looks) but one that DID stick in the mind was called "Ghost House" or something, a first-person game where you'd have to take photos of ghosts.

Wonder if that'll ever appear in a similar way to Magician Lord there?

@TwoHeadedBoy

There was a game released in Japan for the NGPC called GHOST PHOTO STUDIO whereby you do exactly that (take pictures of ghosts). It's a game I've got for the NGPC, so possibly the Ghost House you refer to may have been exclusive to Japan as Ghost Photo Studio should you ever want to track it down? If the game was ever going to see the light of day outside of Japan, the name Ghost House had also been used by Sega as in their Master System release, so maybe a reason why we never saw it?

Back on topic though, that's a great find - be good to see it available somewhere along the way

@gunstarhero

Interesting, thanks for that. Is Ghost Photo Studio actually playable? Or is if just walls of Japanese text? At the time it sounded like the most amazing thing in the world!
