In 1992 Bill Pullan unleashed a vegetable themed puzzler through the now late Psygnosis which had Amiga owners pulling their hair out in frustration. While Bill's Tomato Game was an instant hit amongst computer owners, it never quite made the transition to consoles despite a Sega Mega Drive port being created - one which is now on eBay.
This, however, is not the first time the Bill's Tomato Game Mega Drive prototype has surfaced on eBay. In 2009 the very same prototype sold on eBay UK for the massive total of £910. With the recent wave of Psygnosis misfortune, the current owner (who we believe to be a certain RetroCollect member obsessed with all things Sega which we'll leave unnamed) has finally decided to part ways with his most treasured retro gaming item at a very apt time.
This Bill's Tomato Game Sega Mega Drive prototype up for auction is more than just the unfinished code we normally see from leaked unreleased games, the entire game ready for release sits dormant on this elusive cartridge. Sadly though, given it originally sold for a high price, it has understandably been listed at a similar price. To make matters worse, the Bill's Tomato Game prototype ROM is yet to be released online - leaving those desperate to enjoy this ketchup splatter will have to dig very deep into their pockets.
