Unofficial Sequel ‘Alex Kidd On Miracle Island’ Adventures Onto Texas Instruments 99 Computers

Alex-Kidd-On-Miracle-Island-TI-99-HomebrewAlex Kidd may be remembered fondly for his antics on the Master System, but sadly that’s about as far as it goes for the Radaxian hero, albeit officially. Fans of both the shortlived series and the Texas Instruments 99 / 4A computers have decided to make amends for Sega’s lack of faith in the protagonist, by creating an all new sequel known as Alex Kidd on Miracle Island.

For a computer first released in 1981, you’d very much expect a Master System title to struggle on such primitive hardware. Homebrew developer Danny Lousberg (better known as TheMole in the coding scene) on the other hand has plenty to say to doubters of the Texas Instruments 99 / 4A platform. Within seconds of his homebrew efforts booting into memory, you’ll have almost forgotten that there’s no Master System in sight. Alex Kidd on Miracle Island features the much loved soundtrack to the 8-bit classic, near identical physics and gameplay, and a impressive visual style that gets as close to the original as possible.

As it stands this homebrew title is still very much in development and yet to be released online, however, until then be sure to check out Alex’s latest adventure on unfamiliar hardware.

Very cool! I loved the Master System Alex Kidd games... lets see how well the TI can handle extra sprites moving about on the screen when enemies are added.
