Unofficial Homemade Sega Dreamcast Broadband Adapter In Development

Sega-Dreamcast-Moband-Broadband-AdapterOne of the greatest aspects to the Sega Dreamcast was that it revolutionised online gaming. While the 128-bit console's services may no longer be running officially, it's still possible to get online with the Sega Dreamcast and get gaming. The only issue with this is that the necessary Broadband Adapter is an incredibly valuable rarity - something which is about to change.

Behind the scenes over the last decade an incredibly talented engineer has been working on an alternative to Sega's Dreamcast Modems and Broadband adapters. The Moband Adapter aims to replace both these outdated devices to provide a more affordable and reliable way of getting online with the Dreamcast, even today.

But what can you do with a Broadband Adapter on the Dreamcast given that official support for it has long ceased to exist? Well you'd be surprised. Here's a list of the fantastic things you can still do with the right hardware:

This is just a small snippet of what you can do with a Dreamcast Broadband adapter, however, should this accessory (or an unofficial alternative) become more accessible, there's a high chance even more games could make it 'online'.

The Moband adapter is still very much in development and in need of assistance, however, it shows plenty of promise for retro gamers wanting to get back online.

Damn, this is excellent! I've always wanted to go online on Dreamcast, since many sites still offer the DLC for Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. I know there are other methods, but eh, I'm not sure about how they work.
