Unofficial HD Remake Of SNES RPG Chrono Trigger In The Works

Unofficial-HD-Remake-Of-Super-Nintendo-RPG-Chrono-Trigger-In-The-WorksAlthough Chrono Trigger has been revived on both the Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation, a group of dedicated fans still feel that the game hasn't been given the remake treatment it deserves. Knowing this, some unnamed individuals have started work on an unofficial HD remake.

Whilst all this is rather promising, all that has been revealed so far is a screenshot of the title screen with a quick dig at SquareEnix included in the corner. After both the 3D fan made remake of the game Chrono Resurrection and the unofficial ROM hack sequel Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes were shut down by SquareEnix, the team behind the HD remake of Chrono Trigger have opted to develop the game in private. Their belief is that without a project website or contact details available, SquareEnix will be unable to send a cease and desist letter and will lack the power to shut the project down.

Whether their underground approach will be successful is yet to be proved, although we do live in hope that Chrono Trigger HD will see the light of day. Until more is known about the project, we'll leave you with that promising title screen screenshot and send you in the direction of the Reddit thread where Chrono Trigger HD was revealed.

They've got to protect their IP. After all, if Square were to have a Chrono Trigger remake planned, the impact it might have on the gaming world upon release would be dampened as everyone would have already experienced it with these fan made projects instead.

Square have more than likely NOT got an HD remake of it planned, the same arguement was lauded about when the other C&D's we sent out :P
