Unlicensed Bible Themed Super Nintendo FPS 'Super 3D Noah's Ark' Rereleased On Cartridge

Super-3D-Noahs-Ark-SNES-Rerelease-On-CartridgeAlthough the bible might not be the biggest source of inspiration for video games, the infamous Wisdom Tree Games churned out a large selection of religious releases for the Nintendo NES, albeit unofficially. The Super Nintendo also got in on the action too with the crazy FPS Super 3D Noah's Ark, a title set for a rerelease on cartridge.

Originally released back in 1994 and sold in Christian bookstores, this bizarre first person shooter puts you in control of Noah who is tasked with calming down the animals of the ark with sleep inducing food. Bearing a striking ressemblence to Wolfenstein 3D, this unlicensed release was put onto a plug-thru cartridge (similar to Codemasters' early NES releases) which required another official game to be plugged into the top - allowing Wisdom Tree Games to bypass any licensing issues.

Oh, and as for that similarity to id Software's early shooter... Rumour has it that the creators of Wolfenstein 3D were so miffed with Nintendo's censorship of their title that they handed the game's source code over to Wisdom Tree Games. Needless to say the resulting factor is that a rather bonkers religion-em-up ended up on the Super Nintendo that has since become a collector's item.

This all new rerelease is being sold by Piko Interactive who are meant to have the publishing rights for the title. The game comes on a standard cartridge and does not need another cartridge to be plugged in to work. Prices start at $40 with those wanting a box and manual needing to fork out another $25.

That is not true. ID Soft simply sold the engine of Wolfenstein 3d. They did that with every title they made some of their games were almost only tech demos.
