Unfinished Atari 5200 Prototype Of Tempest Completed & Released By Original Programmer

Unfinished-Atari-5200-Prototype-Of-Tempest-Completed-Released-By-Original-ProgrammerWhen an unfinished video game prototype makes its way onto the internet, the last thing you'd expect to follow is the original programmer returning to complete what they started. This is exactly what's happened with the Atari 5200 version of Tempest, with the now finished version being made available to purchase on cartridge.

Over several decades the Atari 5200 version of Tempest was considered to be nothing more than a myth. It wasn't until 1999 that a ROM of an unfinished Tempest prototype surfaced online, shortly after being sold at auction. Fast forward to today and the original programmer, Keithen Hayenga, caught wind of the prototype and decided to gift retro gamers with the complete game.

Having filled in the missing portions of game code, Keithen Hayenga's finished version of Tempest for the Atari 5200 has finally been made available to play, and purchase in physical cartridge form. AtariAge have just released the game on their online store, coming with a glossy label, 12 page full-color glossy manual, offset printed box and insert to keep the game cartridge in place.

Atari collectors should take note though that only 250 boxed copies of Tempest will be produced.
