Underground Game Boy Hit Mole Mania Coming To Nintendo 3DS eShop

Underground-Game-Boy-Hit-Mole-Mania-Coming-To-The-Nintendo-3DS-eShopNintendo's E3 press conference this year may have been a bit of a disappointment, but console yourself with the news that the Nintendo Game Boy classic Mole Mania is set to arrive on the Nintendo 3DS's eShop.

Australia's ratings board has been found to have rated the Game Boy puzzler, which is often put forward as one of the system's hidden gems. Designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the game saw you play as Muddy the Mole, attempting to rescue his family from evil farmer bloke Jinbe (who fittingly looks like a distant relative of Yosemite Sam).

Appearing to be a standard action puzzler with one-screen stages where all you have to do is roll a steel ball onto a switch, the twist here is that you can dig underground - bypassing obstacles and creating holes as a result. This simple concept was milked for all it was worth, and is a worthy addition to the eShop.

The fact it costs over £5 to pick up a physical copy nowadays means that the likely £3.60 price tag given to Nintendo published Game Boy titles won't seem as extortionate as usual too. This news follows on from a busy month on the 3DS's Virtual Console (by its standards anyway), with four retro releases in May.

Kirby's Dreamland 2 (£3.60 - Game Boy), Game & Watch Gallery 2 (Game Boy Color - £3.60), Sonic Labyrinth (£4.50 - Game Gear), and Rayman (£4.50 - Game Boy Color) were the four titles in question. All are worth investigating too, with the possible exception of the flawed Sonic Labyrinth…

What do you mean Nintendo's press conference was a disappointment? We got to see Pikmin 3 New Super Mario Bros. U.

I think a few people (myself included) were disappointed by the lack any truly exciting new games/IPs at the show to be honest. I will admit that New Super Mario Bros U does look good fun though!

Just cross your fingers that tomorrow will show off Super Smash Bros. 4. Hopefully, with Geno!
