Ultimate Play The Game's Unreleased ZX Spectrum Title 'Mire Mare' Given Unofficial Homebrew Tribute in 'Land of Mire Mare'

ZX-Spectrum-Land-of-Mire-Mare-Homebrew-ReleaseTo many ZX Spectrum gamers, the legacy Ultimate Play The Game left behind was all but complete. The final outing in the critically acclaimed Sabreman series, following on from Knight Lore and Pentagram, known as Mire Mare never saw the light of day. Countless years have been spent trying to locate this long lost classic, although very few clues have surfaced. Instead of just sitting by and waiting, some ZX Spectrum developers decided to take matters into their own hands by gifting retro gamers an unofficial homebrew video game tribute to this missing link known as the Land of Mire Mare.

This unlicensed fan release finally gifts Sabreman his final adventure, one he missed out on back in the late eighties. Instead of sticking to the later release’s isometric style of gameplay, Land of Mire Mare heads back to Sabreman’s earliest outing by offering action similar to the top down adventure Sabre Wulf.

Featuring visuals inspired by the game’s series, along with many recognisable locations and enemies, Land of Mire Mare seems to do Ultimate Play The Game’s unfinished ending justice. This all new homebrew ZX Spectrum game has been released for free online and can be downloaded in .TAP format - ready for use on emulators or the original hardware through devices like the DivIDE.
