Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Studio 'Neversoft' Burns Out

Neversoft-Shut-Down-By-ActivisionAfter twenty years of creating video games, the prevalent development studio Neversoft has sadly ceased operations. Current owners Activision have decided to merge the team behind hits such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Guitar Hero, and Spider-man’s PlayStation outing with Infinity Ward, leaving behind their eye-conic stamp.

During their time in the industry, Neversoft had a huge impact on gamers during the early 2000s with their skateboarding epics. The perfect timing of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’s release combined with the timeless soundtrack of punk hits is something that will never leave us - especially bursting through the hangar listening to Goldfinger’s Superman.

This unfortunate news was somewhat celebrated by the team earlier this week in an upbeat fashion. With an oversized replica of the eyeball logo, members of the Neversoft team set it alight and shared the burning via Twitter. To commemorate their time at the development studio, employees were also gifted monogrammed bowie knifes, each branded with the Neversoft logo.

As Neversoft now joins the likes of Psygnosis and Lucasarts, we want to know what your favourite title of theirs was and why.

Sad news the Tony hawk series was one of my favourites I'd probably say that 2 was the best but that maybe nostalgia. Which ever game introduced the revert was the best don't remember if it was 2 3 or 4.

Oh, this is some crap. Neversoft's been making games for what, fifteen years? And this is how Activision repays them. That company blows. It's more Super Pitfall than Pitfall at this point.

Anyway, Tony Hawk 2 on the Dreamcast is a personal favorite of mine. Tony Hawk 3 is probably superior, but I like the approachable simplicity of T-Hawk 2.

Coincidentally we've been playing Tony Hawk 2 (PS1) all weekend on HORSE (we play C**TFACE), awesome game with buddies. Ordered the DC version last night with a VGA adapter, I hope they didn't mess with the physics like they did on Tony Hawk 2X on Xbox or the new HD.
