The Vectrex Gets Festive With 'Save The Trees' and 'Stocking Filler' Homebrew Christmas Games

Vectrex-Christmas-Homebrew-CartIf for whatever reason Christmas NiGHTs isn't enough to keep you busy this winter, dust off the Vectrex and get ready to feel festive. One homebrew developer is gearing up the release of two brand new games for the vector-based console - a high score frantic scrolling shooter and an addictive collect 'em up.

Stocking Filler and Save The Trees are the latest titles to hit the Vectrex, both of which will be released online for free on Christmas Eve as a downloadable ROM. The first of these features gameplay similar to that of Kaboom on the Atari 2600, one where you're tasked with filling up a Christmas stocking full of presents. Save The Trees instead is your standard scrolling shooter, one whereby a never ending array of presents are determined to smash into your trusty shooting tree.

Although simplistic in their approach, these two titles make for great high score gaming over the coming weeks. Both games are due to be released on cartridge later this month, while those who happen to have an emulator or flash cartridge at the ready can look forward to the ROM's release on the 24th.
