The Retro Friendly Nintendo 3DS Launch Line Up

Nintendo-3DS-Retro-Gamer-Friendly-Line-UpIf there ever was a next generation console launch that had retro gamers frothing at the mouth, it's the Nintendo 3DS. Games such as Starfox 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time have been selected for a 3D update, with Nintendo's latest trailer giving us an insight into these retro remakes.

Since the early days of the Nintendo 3DS being announced, names such as Kid Icarus have been thrown around getting the attention of the retro fans. But very little information, gameplay footage or screenshots have surfaced until recent, making these announced titles something we have all been waiting impatiently for.

Here is a new trailer from Nintendo showcasing many of the new games for the Nintendo 3DS, including the many retro remakes and classic games adopted for the new handheld:

As of now the titles which have been announced (or featured in the video) which should interest the retro gamers are:

  • Animal Crossing
  • Chocobo Racing 3DS
  • Dead or Alive: Dimensions
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
  • Mario Kart 3DS
  • Mega Man Legends 3
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D
  • Paper Mario
  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • Starfox 64 3D
  • Super Monkey Ball: Ticket Blitz
  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition

A very retro gamer friendly line up we're all very much anticipating. The thought of reliving Starfox 64 (Lylat Wars) with an added level of depth and being able to defeat Ganon once more in a 3D Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time sounds all too good for new console.

What a stonker of a line up!! It's been too long since Pilotwings' last outing. Let's hope that most of em are available for or shortly after launch. Very exciting stuff though!! :D

Wowzers. This actually excites me! The fact this has N64 games coming for it interests me greatly, wonder if F-Zero will get a port.

Such a great year for handhelds in general. 3DS looks very strong yet DS and PSP also have an impressive line up. Gotta say, I am slightly more excited by the handhelds than I am home consoles this year :-*

I could honestly play all of them except Animal Crossing. Spent way too much time on the GC and DS version to start that game all over again.

Mega Man Legends 3...... ...thank you Capcom!

Looks pretty damn cool. Just wish they'd hurry up and announce the release prices. According to Wikipedia it's 25,000 Yen, which would make it $305AU. Not too bad a price, but I was hoping for around $200.

I stand corrected. EB Games Australia has it listed for $348. Think I'll be waiting for a price drop.
