tapDancer Lets You Load Commodore 64 Cassette Tapes Into Memory Via Your Android Device

tapDancer-Lets-You-Load-Commodore-64-Cassette-Tapes-Into-Memory-Via-Your-Android-DeviceSay goodbye to tape loading errors and the need to collect any more of that dated media format. The newly released Android application tapDancer converts Commodore 64 TAP images into audio on the fly, allowing you to transmit your favourite 8-bit classics straight into the system.

Before you get too excited and head to the Google Play Store, there is one more piece of kit you'll be needing. As there is no direct jack input on the Commodore 64 to receive a signal from your Android device, you'll need a Cassette Tape to MP3 player adapter - luckily enough theses cost as little as £1.99.

After inserting this adapter into your Commodore 64's Datasette and its other end to your Android device, simply boot up tapDancer, navigate to the folder full of TAP files on your memory card, select the game of your choice and press play on the tape player.

Tapes. Who needs 'em?

So you'd still need a Datassette for this. Hm.

Any chance this will work with the VIC-20 as well?

Shame the C64 can't accept analog audio without the datasette. Because then it could take OTLA inputs. OTLA is an program/algorithm which can accelerate the TAP playback without data-loss to around 10 seconds for a game instead of minutes. Just google OTLA on YouTube.
