Taito's Frantic Arcade Shmup RayForce Arrives On Apple iOS Devices

Taitos-Frantic-Arcade-Shmup-RayForce-Arrives-On-iOS-DevicesOf all the genres most suited to a touch screen remake, scrolling shooters without a doubt make the most of the tactile controls available. The latest game to follow this trend is Taito's 1993 arcade vertical shmup, RayForce, which hit the Apple App Store earlier this week.

RayForce now joins the ranks of Espgaluda II, Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi Resurrection, on a device capable of providing a screen ratio which consoles have struggled to produce for years. With nearly 20 years since the game first arrived in the arcades and 18 since its arrival on the Sega Saturn, Taito seem to have done a fantastic job at resurrecting the arcade shooter. Gameplay remains intact albeit the addition of precise d-pad-free touch screen controls (ironic, eh?).

The only downside to this new release is sadly the price. Like the other AAA titles on the App Store, Rayforce weighs in at a hefty £7.99. That said we can only hope the profits go towards bringing both RayStorm and RayCrisis to modern devices in the near future.
