Homebrew Super Smash Land releases today for FREE!

smashland1Remember when we told you about Super Smash Bros coming to Gameboy? Well, almost. The homebrew hit featuring all your Nintendo favourites has finally arrived in a monochromatic dream-land brawl.

Dan Fornance has 'De-made' the classic beat-em-up and given it the look and feel of the original hand held gaming console. The good news is that anyone can play as it is a free to download PC game, and the better news is that its really rather good. Play as Link, Kirby, Mario or Pikachu and smash your opponents using simple controls but huge dollops of game play

All of the facets of the 'real' games are here, 4 players, hidden characters, multiple levels, in fact its hard to spot that this is a homebrew game at all. Fans of chiptunes are not forgotten either as the soundtrack is available for download as well.

Im sure that there will be a review of this coming to RetroCollect very soon. As soon as the Staff writers put it down and get on with some work.

Smash on over to the website and grab a copy of the full game, its free!

Did I mention it was free?

I am the original first generation. I wandered in to an arcade in the late 70’s and never really got over it. I don’t have a favourite system but I do have a lot of favourite games and spend most of my spare time playing and writing about them. On sunny days you could find me outside, but only if my longboard is with me.

I really enjoy this rendition. This is actually impressive work on the Game Maker 8 program. I've used it quite a bit and I can assure you, this took quite a lot of work.

I really loved seeing Mega Man. It frustrates me that he's STILL not even in a Super Smash Bros. game - and I'm not even that much of a Mega Man fan! It's blasphemy. Same with not having a Belmont (preferably Simon or Trevor) in any of the SSB games as well... I mean, c'mon. They better be in the next installment, especially since Sonic the Hedgehog and Snake were on Brawl. :-|

Has anyone unlocked the two other characters? I haven't. I assume Mega Man is going to be one... if Simon Belmont is the other, I'll flip!
